Landslide in Karabük's Yenice District: Freight Train Left the Colt

The accident occurred in the evening hours of January 7, 2024, in Balıkısık Village, Yenice district of Karabük. The freight train carrying coal from Zonguldak to Karabük was derailed due to rock pieces falling on the railway due to a landslide.

The drivers escaped uninjured in the accident. Railway transportation between the two cities was stopped.

Karabük Governor Fuat Gürel, in his statement regarding the accident, said, “A landslide occurred on the Zonguldak-Karabük railway line. Due to the landslide, rock pieces fell on the railway line. The freight train carrying coal from Zonguldak to Karabük derailed due to rock fragments. The drivers were not injured in the accident. The coal on the train was also unloaded. Railway transportation between the two cities was stopped due to the landslide on the railway line and the train derailment. The teams started working on the road closed due to landslide. The rails on the railway line are also being repaired. "After the completion of the work, train services will restart," he said.
