Joint Statement from Drivers and Transporters: A ring road should be built urgently in Mardin

Mardin Chamber of Drivers President Mehmet Nasır Öztap made a press statement following the recent accidents.

Öztap emphasized that the ring road is essential because there are lime, pipe and cement factories in Mardin, as well as the road connecting to Habur.
Öztap stated that if there is no ring road, accidents will continue in and around Mardin and said, “These accidents are generally caused by large vehicles. A ring road is urgently required for Mardin. We ask for support from the authorities. “We want Mardin to have the ring road as soon as possible.” said.
Öztap said that the Alternative Turkmen road is not suitable for trucks, buses and lorries, and that it could be an alternative for small vehicles.
Muhsin Kaya, President of the Southeastern International Forwarders Association, said in his statement: "Mardin, which is the triangle of the Southeast, Midyat Batman Diyarbakır, which connects the roads from Mardin, and they have a common road, and we have only one entrance way in the center of Mardin, and that is, passages within the city are provided. Since we do not have a ring road, urban roads are used, which causes congestion. 2-3 accidents or even 4 accidents occur daily. Therefore, we see that there is a need for two ring roads. And we have conveyed this to the authorities many times for many years. We still haven't received an answer and no action has been taken. There is supposedly a newly built ring road. That ring road is not visible. Any heavy tonnage vehicles are used. "This should be reconsidered and action should be taken," he said.
