Izmit Municipality, which attaches importance to sports for a healthy life and carries out many activities in this direction, brought citizens together in sports activities in 2023. Raising the athletes of the future; Izmit Municipality, which encourages citizens, young and old, to participate in sports, won the hearts of the people of Izmit.
Amateur sports clubs, which had a shortage of fields for training, continued to benefit from the Arsenal Sports Facilities this year. 74 thousand 844 athletes benefited from Arsenal Sports Facilities throughout the year. In addition, a total of 12 thousand 971 jobs benefited from the Izmit Municipality Aquapark, while Izmit Municipality Indoor Swimming Pool hosted approximately 60 thousand athletes.
WOMEN SHOW INTEREST IN SPORTS CENTERS
A total of 42 gyms throughout the year are located in Belsa Plaza, Kuruçeşme Merkez, Bekirdere, Topçular, Zabıtan, Akmeşe, Yahya Kaptan, Mehmet Ali Paşa, Gündoğdu, Tepeköy, İZGİM, Ayazma, Malta, Körfez (6 Evler), Akpınar and Yenidoğan Districts. 745 women benefited.
Citizens both did sports and enjoyed nature with Healthy Life Walks held once a week, depending on weather conditions, and Bizim Village Nature Walks organized with professional walkers once a month. Throughout the year, 1475 people participated in Healthy Life Walks and 470 people participated in Our Village Nature Walks.
BIG INTEREST IN BICYCLE TOURS
Bicycle tours departed from Yahya Kaptan Cycling Track every Sunday morning and continued regularly throughout the year. A total of 864 people participated in the bicycle tours. Apart from routine activities, dozens of athletes were reached through tournaments and events organized on special days and weeks.
