Dörtyol Hassa Railway and Highway Project Will Revitalize Regional Trade

Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu announced that the tender for 'Dörtyol Hassa Railway and Motorway Project' was made.

In his statement, Minister Uraloğlu stated that the tender for the construction of the 'Hatay-Dörtyol-Hassa Highway and Railway Tunnel', which Hatay as well as the region was looking forward to, was held and the company with the lowest bid won the tender.

Minister Uraloğlu stated that one of the most urgent infrastructure needs in the region after the earthquakes that occurred on February 6 was transportation, and in this context, the construction of 20 1-kilometer railway and 20 2-kilometer highway tunnels under the Amanos Mountains, 20 kilometers long between Dörtyol and Hassa, will be an alternative transportation option. He stated that it is important in terms of establishing infrastructure.

EASE OF ACCESS WILL BE PROVIDED TO THE LARGE TRADE VOLUME THAT EXISTS IN THE REGION

Uraloğlu, Dörtyol-Hassa Railway and Motorway Project is a highway and highway project that connects the Gulf of İskenderun to the industrial areas behind the Amanos Mountains and the province of Gaziantep in the shortest way. In addition, with these tunnels, transportation between İskenderun-Gaziantep and İskenderun Kahramanmaraş will be shortened and will provide ease of access to the large trade volume in this region.” said.

Providing information about the project, Uraloğlu said, “Within the scope of the Dörtyol-Hassa Railway and Motorway Project, the length of 25 railway tunnel is 1 kilometers, and the length of 20 highway tunnels, which will be 2×2 lanes, is 2 kilometers on the 40-kilometer route. The tunnel to be built within the scope of the project is planned to consist of 3 different tubes and the tunnel lengths will be 20 kilometers each. "The project will consist of two stages, and the first stage, which includes tunnel construction, will end at Hassa junction." He made a statement.

Providing information about the highway connection, Uraloğlu said, "It will leave the Toprakkale-İskenderun Highway and pass under the Amanos Mountains at the Dörtyol junction and connect with the existing highway between Kırıkhan and Nurdağı via Hassa." said.

HATAY WILL DEVELOP IN THE FIELDS OF INDUSTRY AND TOURISM WITH THE PROJECT

Uraloğlu noted that the development of Hatay province in the fields of industry and tourism will accelerate as a result of the Dortyol-Hassa Railway and Highway Project and the direction of transportation to Iskenderun Bay, and made the following statements:

“With this project, the transportation of the Southeastern Anatolia Region and the Eastern Anatolia Region connected to Kahramanmaraş is currently provided from the northern and southern ends of the Amanos Mountains; By passing through the central part of the Amanos Mountains between Payas and Hassa, the road transportation distance will be significantly shortened. Likewise, with the railway line to be built between Payas-Hassa-Yolbaşı, Hatay and İskenderun will be connected to Gaziantep and Hassa Logistics Area in a shorter way. The project; "The Payas-Hassa line has a special importance, and if the cargo and passengers coming from Kahramanmaraş and Gaziantep follow the Nurdağı-Hassa-Payas road instead of the highway after Nurdağı, the transportation distance will be significantly shortened."

Uraloğlu said, “With the realization of the Dörtyol-Hassa Project, the Kilis-Osmaniye-İskenderun route, which is currently 235 km, will be reduced to 38,3 km, the Kırıkhan-İskenderun-Dörtyol route, which is 77,3 km, will be 15,27 kilometers, and the Nurdağı-Osmaniye-Dörtyol (121 km) route will be reduced to 20,60 km. The railway route between Dörtyol-Kırıkhan-Hassa (Payas) route, which is 78,8 kilometer and 53,4 km, will be shortened to 84 kilometers, and the railway route between Payas-Fevzipaşa, which is 29,6 km, will be shortened by XNUMX km, to provide safe, comfortable and uninterrupted transportation. ” he said.

WITH THE PROJECT, THE HIGHWAY DISTANCE TO İSKENDERUN WILL BE SERIOUSLY SHORTENED

Uraloğlu stated that, “As the Southeastern Anatolia Region gained the ports it needed in Iskenderun, the shift of freight traffic to Iskenderun instead of Mersin brought about the issue of reviewing the existing highway connection of the region with Iskenderun. Uraloğlu said, “Dörtyol Hassa Railway and Highway Project is of great importance. Thanks to this project, the highway distance to Iskenderun will be significantly shortened.” said.

UNINTERRUPTED ACCESS TO THE REGION WILL BE PROVIDED IN DISASTER CASES

With the implementation of the Dörtyol-Hassa Railway and Motorway Project; Uraloğlu said that by establishing an earthquake-resistant road and railway transportation infrastructure, the region's uninterrupted access capacity in case of disaster will be improved, and added the following:

“Due to the fact that the existing and new ports in the Gulf of Iskenderun are very close to the Amanos Mountains and that there are not sufficient storage and logistics areas in the existing port and the surrounding areas, these needs will be met from suitable areas in the Hassa Region and economic life will be revived in these regions.

The importance of Iskenderun Ports is increasing day by day in the trade between industrial zones in the provinces of the Eastern Mediterranean and Southeastern Anatolia Region and neighboring countries such as Syria and Iraq, and in increasing trade; "The contribution of this project will be great."
