Future Outlook in Education Report Has Been Published

In the report prepared under the coordination of the Ministry of National Education, Board of Education and Discipline, it was stated that one of the projects carried out by the Ministry within the scope of the 100th anniversary of the Republic activities was the "100th Anniversary of the Republic: Future Outlook in Education Report", which aims to shape the view of the future in education.

The report, which emphasizes that every positive development in education is very important for the Turkish nation to continue its existence, develop, strengthen and increase its level of welfare in the new century, includes four different sections and rich subject headings. The report, prepared with the contributions of academics from different universities supported by the Turkish Academy of Sciences (TÜBA), the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TÜBİTAK) and MEB experts, reveals the opportunities and risks in education with analysis and predictions, and determines the principles of implementation in order to make Turkey's education system more qualified. It offers a framework.

The aim of the study is to be a resource in creating the necessary education policies to achieve the goals of the Turkish Century and a reference text for all educators. The report covers many topics under the main headings of "Education Philosophy and Values", "Technology and Education", "New Approaches in Education", "Sustainability and Education".

“Education Philosophy and Values”

According to this heading in the report, it is envisaged that placing a systematic educational philosophy on the basis of the education system will contribute to the widespread adoption of root values ​​such as justice, friendship, honesty, self-control, patience, respect, love, responsibility, patriotism and helpfulness in the curriculum. The report emphasizes that placing a systematic education philosophy on the basis of the education system will positively contribute to the raising of virtuous generations who protect universal, national and spiritual values, and also states that this situation will contribute to academic success. It is stated in the report that a systematically applied educational philosophy will ensure the development of virtuous people and increase academic success, and that this will have a positive impact on the happiness of students, whose anxiety about the future decreases, and therefore on the welfare of society. In the section, which includes topics such as the efficient use of digitalization in education, the relationship between popular culture and education, and the efficient use of artificial intelligence in education, there are suggestions on transforming values ​​into behavior and implementing a student-centered education model.

“Technology and Education”

This section of the report underlines predictions about future technologies and the key role of education in catching and adapting to these technological changes. It is pointed out that rapid developments and changes in technology lead to the emergence of needs such as individuals' changing digital competencies, adapting to new digital learning environments, adapting to changing learning roles and completing the deficiencies in the planning and management of education. In addition, digital competencies and technology teaching, technology-supported learning environments, transformation of learning in the digital world, and technological planning and management in education are discussed in this section.

“New Approaches in Education”

This section includes information about various educational approaches and tendencies that are future-oriented but can still be used today, under the headings of learning and transformation in education, measurement and evaluation, and educational management. The section, which is presented with titles such as inquiry-based learning, collaborative learning, context-based learning, active learning, and lifelong learning, contains recommendations not only for students but also for teachers and school administrators.

“Sustainability and Education”

In the sustainability and education section, the foundations and goals of sustainability in the education axis; Environmental, economic and social sustainability and the function of education in building a sustainable society are discussed. In this context, there are recommendations and suggestions under topics such as sustainability of environmental factors, especially the sustainability of education. In general, the report deals with innovative technologies, the changing and transforming world order, and combines recommendations and recommendations on these issues under one roof, in terms of the future of education in Turkey's second century.
