A Cooperation Protocol was Signed between the Council of Higher Education and the Presidency of Defense Industries. With the protocol, international scientists at universities will be able to be employed in the defense industry sector.

President of the Council of Higher Education, Özvar, in his statement, said, “We are taking a new initiative for close relations between the university and the defense industry. "The protocol will make a significant contribution to both our defense industry and our higher education system," he said.

“By providing employment opportunities in the defense industry sector, our universities will become much more attractive for qualified international researchers in this field.” The Presidency of the Council of Higher Education and the Presidency of Defense Industries (SSB) will enable international academics to work in Turkey in the field of defense industry and transfer global knowledge to academia and industry. "Cooperation Protocol for the Employment of International Scientists in Universities and Defense Industry Companies" was signed for this purpose. By protocol; It is aimed to bring the knowledge and experience of scientists who have carried out successful studies abroad to our country, to assign international scientists to the defense industry sector, and to bring the knowledge and competencies of academics to the defense industry through joint research and development projects.

This protocol, signed by the Council of Higher Education with the Presidency of Defense Industries, gives universities the opportunity to add international researchers and university professors with high research quality in relevant fields to their staff.

In his speech at the signing ceremony held at SSB, President of the Council of Higher Education Erol Özvar said that a solid ground was created for the development of cooperation with the protocols previously signed by the Presidency of Defense Industries and the Council of Higher Education, and that a new step will be taken in this regard with the signed protocol. Explaining that one of the most important elements of the cooperation protocols made so far between the defense industry sector and the Council of Higher Education is the provision of qualified manpower needed by the sector, Özvar said, “In this context, both the academic staff currently working in our higher education institutions will contribute to the defense industry sector and this It is aimed to raise qualified young people who can take part in the sector.” said.

Underlining that the protocol will make arrangements for international scientists employed in universities to work part-time in the defense industry sector, Özvar continued as follows: "Considering that approximately 169 international scientists with doctorates are employed in all fields in 1500 universities in our country, our defense industry will benefit from a larger human capital. It is clear that he will have the opportunity to do so. In addition, this will provide a new opportunity for close relations between the university and the defense industry.” Özvar stated that with the new protocol, we can make suggestions to our universities to employ the international scientists needed by the defense sector, and likewise, universities can make proposals to the relevant sector for the international scientists they employ to be assigned to the defense sector.

Defense Industry President Prof. Dr. Haluk Görgün stated that with the protocol, the knowledge and experience of scientists who have carried out successful studies abroad will be brought to the country. Görgün stated that with the protocol, the technological depth of the defense industry will be increased with the vision and work of international academicians who are experts in their fields, and said, "The synergy that I am sure it will create between the protocol, the defense industry ecosystem and academicians, will provide new perspectives at the point of exporting our products and will support the leverage effect of our sector in the economy." After the speeches, Özvar and Görgün signed the protocol.
