In Van, 170 kilometers of the security wall built on the Iranian border to prevent illegal crossings, smuggling activities and terrorist infiltration has been completed.

The construction of a security wall and watchtower and the digging of trenches are continuing in order to ensure the security of the 295-kilometer border line with the neighboring country and to close it off to illegal activities.

The teams, which have built a security wall along the 170-kilometer section so far, continue their work in the Başkale region in the works initiated to prevent irregular immigrants from crossing the border to Turkey via Iran.

Special Mine Search and Clearing Battalion Command teams affiliated with Ankara Gendarmerie Engineering Command are clearing mines on the border so that wall building and trench digging works can be carried out more safely.

Then, the concrete blocks produced in concrete plants established by contractor companies are laid on the previously prepared border line with work machines.

346 Kilometers of Trenches Dig

In order to completely prevent illegal crossings across the border, a 4 meter wide and 4 meter deep ditch is dug in front of the security wall.

So far, 2 kilometers of trenches have been dug along the border line, with two rows in some areas. 346 of the 103 electro-optic towers on the border, including communication and surveillance, have been completed, and the installation of electricity transmission lines for 74 is ongoing.

With the completion of the construction of 75 lego and 17 monoblock towers in a short time, it is planned to keep the border line under constant control with a total of 210 towers.

Two and three rows of razor wire were installed in the 170 kilometer section of the 154 kilometer security wall, the construction of which was completed.
