'6 February Earthquake Martyrs Monument' was built by the Malatya Metropolitan Municipality Cemeteries Department in the City Cemetery in memory of the earthquake martyrs who lost their lives in Malatya following the Kahramanmaraş-centered earthquakes on February 6.
The 'February 6 Earthquake Martyrs Monument' was built in Malatya in memory of the February 6 earthquakes, which were described as the disaster of the century, the biggest earthquakes of the last century, and thousands of citizens lost their lives. The earthquake monument includes the names of the earthquake martyrs who died in Malatya on February 6.
Providing information about the February 6 Earthquake Martyrs Monument, Malatya Metropolitan Municipality Cemeteries Department Head Osman Gönültaş said, “In order to keep the memory of our citizens who lost their lives in the February 6 earthquakes alive, our Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mr. Selahattin Gürkan told us to build a monument in memory of our earthquake martyrs. As the Cemeteries Department, we started to build an earthquake monument in the area we created for our earthquake martyrs who lost their lives in the February 6 earthquakes. Hopefully, we will keep their names alive on this monument. May God not let us experience such pain again. "I would like to thank our Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Selahattin Gürkan on behalf of myself and my team for the support he gave us," he said.
