Minister of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change Mehmet Özhaseki attended the 'Disaster Village Houses Turnkey Ceremony' in Malatya. Underlining that Turkey is an earthquake country, Minister Mehmet Özhaseki emphasized that the only solution for earthquake preparedness is urban transformation. Minister Özhaseki said, “There is only one solution to these problems. That solution is urban transformation. “There is no other solution other than urban transformation.” said.

Minister of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change Mehmet Özhaseki attended the Disaster Village Houses Turnkey Ceremony in Eğin Village of Akçadağ district of Malatya, one of the provinces most affected by the February 6 earthquakes. Minister Mehmet Özhaseki, in his speech at the ceremony, said that there were two earthquakes in a row on February 6 and Malatya was one of the provinces most affected by them. Stating that 2 municipalities from the AK Party worked in the earthquake zone for months, Minister Özhaseki said, “First, all our mayor friends worked for months in municipal services such as search and rescue activities, first aid such as bread, water, food, and then setting up tents, establishing a container city, and cleaning services. More precisely, the whole nation was standing, except for a few earthquake tourists.” he said.

“46 THOUSAND RESIDENCES ARE IN REASONABLE CONDITION”

Minister Özhaseki stated that the construction of more than 200 thousand earthquake houses that they started as the Ministry is continuing and said, “Currently, 46 thousand of our houses can be given and occupied. As we make 10 thousand-20 thousand every month, we will deliver it to the citizens. Apart from this, we will start nearly 100 thousand residences in city centers.” he said.

“WHEN DOING ALL THESE WORKS, WE WILL WORK ON THE BASIS OF ZERO TOLERANCE”

Minister Özhaseki said, “To be able to handle all these tasks requires willpower,” and added, “Thankfully, this will is in our power. We will get through this together. From now on, we will work on the principle of 'zero tolerance' while doing all these works. From now on, no one will be able to build where fault lines are located. We will never allow construction to be built at the mouth of the stream beds. We will not allow places with liquefaction. Because once our lungs were burned. “We don't want it to burn again.” said.

“SOLUTION, URBAN TRANSFORMATION”

Underlining that Turkey is an earthquake country, Minister Mehmet Özhaseki stated that the only solution for earthquake preparedness is urban transformation. Minister Özhaseki said, “There is only one solution to these problems. That solution is urban transformation. There is no other solution other than urban transformation. If anyone knows, please let me know. “We are open to those ideas, too.” he said.

Reminding that they prepared the 'Urban Transformation Law' to overcome all the obstacles to urban transformation and that it was accepted in the Parliament, Minister Özhaseki said, "No one can stand in our way now. "We will start this urban transformation very quickly." said.

“WE WANT TO PREPARE TURKEY FOR A POSSIBLE EARTHQUAKE BY DOING THE RIGHT JOB”

Emphasizing that some small groups have started a campaign against urban transformation, Minister Özhaseki said, “There are some groups that do not remain silent against the good progress. Now they have started a campaign, 'The Ministry will take citizens from Sultanbeyli,' KadıköyHe will evacuate the houses of the people in , and take away the houses of the people.' saying. Which government emerges to oppress its citizens? Who did we torture? But we also saw many groups trying to prevent it. In Fikirtepe, for example. Thousands of people evacuated their homes. There is a shanty in the middle, uninhabited, made of bricks, with two rooms. They started a campaign over him. They said 'property rights' and victimized thousands of people. So, what will happen to the right to life of thousands of people? What about its security? You are fighting an ideological fight over a two-room briquette. Now they are creating similar storms. We don't care at all. Ultimately, we want to prepare Turkey for a possible earthquake by doing the right thing.” he said.

“EVERYONE SHOULD DO THEIR PART”

Pointing out that there are those who try to present urban transformation as 'profitable transformation', Minister Özhaseki said, "'Sir, we are against profitable transformation.' Don't do it! Everyone wants profitable transformation so much, but you are the only one against it, right? Prepare the urban transformation fairly, do not make a profitable transformation. You can't escape by saying this. I am making a clear announcement to you. Everyone should do their part.” he said.

CONSTRUCTION OF ANOTHER 22 THOUSAND RESIDENCES IS BEGINNING IN THE CITY CENTER

After the speech, Minister Mehmet Özhaseki handed over the keys of 8 of the Disaster Village Houses built in Eğin Village to the citizens. Within the scope of Minister Özhaseki's Malatya program, in addition to the ongoing earthquake housing constructions, the construction of 22 thousand more houses to be built in the city center is starting.
