China's National Press and Publication Administration (NPPA) approved 25 new domestic gaming licenses on Monday, December 105, issuing more than 100 licenses at once for the first time. In 2023, NPPA approved a total of 1075 video game licenses, more than doubling the figure in 2022 in this field.

The Chinese video game industry has experienced rapid growth in recent years. Again, international sales of domestically designed games reached 16,3 billion dollars this year, as stated in the NPPA report on this subject.

On the other hand, Chinese authorities acknowledge that the video game industry has contributed to the breakthrough of basic technologies. In this context, according to the report prepared by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the contribution of game technology to the chip development process, artificial intelligence sector and cloud computing technologies in 2022 was 18,65 percent, 31,37 percent and 51,08 percent, respectively.
