The dates of the "Traditional Animal and Commodity Fair", which is organized every year by the Gerede Municipality and dates back centuries and is known as one of the 5 largest fairs in Turkey, are the 3rd Friday of September by the decision of the Gerede Municipality Council; In other words, the first stage will be held between 15-16-17 September 2023, and the 2nd stage will be held between 29-30 September and 1 October 2023.

While the establishment of the shops in the fairground was coming to an end, the tenders of the shops in the presence of the committee were held on 22 August.

Gerede Mayor Mustafa Allar stated that the fair is of great importance to Gerede in terms of economy and promotion; “Buyers and sellers from all over our country come to our fairs, whose history dates back centuries and whose start date is unknown. Conditions for the goose eating contest have been determined

The conditions for the goose and şak şak halva eating competition, which will be held for the first time this year at the Gerede Fair, have been determined. While a record participation is expected in the competition organized within the scope of Gerede Fairs events, the number of people who can participate in the competition is limited to 10 people. Applications will be determined by the Esentepe Culinary Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School Directorate through a lottery system and pre-selection method. The competition, which will be held in front of the Wooden Town Hall in the fairground area, will be held on Saturday, September 16, 2023, at 14.30.

Gerede Municipality is organizing an eating contest event to promote roasted goose meat and geographically registered şak şak halva, one of the famous flavors of Gerede Fairs. The highly anticipated event will be held in cooperation with Esentepe Culinary Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School under the sponsorship of Gerede Municipality. The event, which will be held on Saturday, September 16 at 1430 at the Gerede Fair, is called "The Most Fried Goose Meat and Şak Şak Halva Eating Competition".
