Turkish Motorcycle Federation President Bekir Yunus Uçar said that they will contribute millions of euros to the promotion of the country with the Turkey stage of the World Motocross Championship (MXGP).

The Turkey stage of the MXGP, one of the major events of sports tourism and where the world's most important motocrossers will compete, will be held in Afyonkarahisar on 100-2 September under the auspices of the Presidency in the 3th anniversary of the Republic.

Evaluating the organization, Turkish Motorcycle Federation President Bekir Yunus Uçar said that MXGP, which is one of the important organizations of the International Motorcycle Federation (FIM), where the best of motocross is determined, has previously been held in Argentina, Italy, Switzerland, Portugal, Spain, France, Latvia, Germany, Indonesia, Czechia, Belgium. Noting that it was held in countries such as Finland, Sweden, Netherlands and England, he stated that the championship would be delivered to 20 countries by 180 broadcasters from Turkey.

Uçar emphasized that Turkey hosts successful organizations with its sports facilities and infrastructure investments.

“With the approval and patronage of our President, Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, we will contribute millions of euros on our own to the promotion of our Turkey on the MXGP journey, which is one of the most interesting races in the world. Uçar stated that Afyonkarahisar Motorsports Center has the best track and paddock among the places where MXGP races are held.

“The pilots who won the MXGP Turkey held here have always finished the season as champions. This is the first place among the tracks that are very popular among racers and expected to race. This year, the champion will be announced in Turkey.”

4 races in world and European class in motocross will be held in Afyonkarahisar

In MXGP Turkey, where the champion was determined last year, 4 races in world and European classification will be run this year in Afyonkarahisar at the same weekend.

With the World Motocross Championship (MXGP), the World Women's Motocross Championship (MXWOMEN), the World Junior Motocross Championship (MX2) and the European Motocross Championship (EMX250), motorcycle enthusiasts will get their fill of sports.

In addition to important factory teams such as Yamaha, Honda, Kawasaki, KTM, Husqvarna, GasGas, TM and Fantic, more than 25 teams and nearly 150 athletes will participate in MXGP Turkey.

World-renowned motocross stars will sweat for the podium this year in MXGP and MX19 consisting of 2 stages, MXWOMEN consisting of 6 stages, and EMX10 consisting of 250 stages.

Athletes from Turkey will also participate in world and European motocross races. Irmak Yıldırım, who has represented Turkey in MXWOMEN for two years, and Selen Tınaz, who finished first in the 2022 Turkish Motocross Championship, will compete in the organization. In the European race, 10 Turkish athletes will compete.

20223 champion in three categories may be determined in Turkey

Competing with GASGAS in MXGP, Spanish driver Jorge Prado is in the first place with 821 points in the general classification.

Prado is followed by French Romain Fevbre from Kawasaki and Swiss Jeremy Seewer from Yamaha.

Jorge Prado will declare his championship if he wins the race at Afyonkarahisar Motor Sports Track.

In MX2, KTM racer Italian Andrea Adamo comes to Turkey as the leader with 705 points.

Champions in EMX250 and MXWOMEN will be determined in Afyonkarahisar. Yamaha pilot Italian Andrea Bonacorsi, who has a point advantage in EMX250, Kawasaki racer Courtney Duncan from New Zealand in MXWOMEN, GASGAS pilot Spanish Daniela Guillen and another Kawasaki racer Dutch Lotte Van Drunen will fight in Turkey to win the 2023 championship.

It is expected to reach nearly 180 billion viewers in 3,5 countries.

Last year, it was announced that MXGP Turkey contributed more than 5 billion liras to the national economy in the week of the race alone. The contribution of the organization to the national economy is expected to increase at least twice this year.

11 artists will take the stage at Türkiye MotoFest

Turkey MotoFest, where motorcycle enthusiasts will meet with famous artists, will be held between 30 August and 3 September.

Nearly 300 visitors are expected to attend the festival, which will bring together motorcycle lovers from Turkey and different parts of the world.
