The world's largest public transportation NGO, International Public Transport Association (UITP), deemed IETT worthy of a special award. Zeynep Pınar Mutlu, the first female Deputy General Manager of IETT, the only public transportation institution in Turkey to receive an award this year, was elected as the Vice Chairman of the UITP Bus Committee.

IETT, the leading institution of public transportation in Turkey and in Istanbul, was deemed worthy of a Special Award by the world's largest public transportation non-governmental organization, the International Union of Public Transportation (UITP).

IETT, “M4 Kadıköy – He received the UITP Special Award for his project titled “Integration of Sabiha Gökçen Airport Metro and IETT Bus Lines”. IETT was the only public transportation institution to receive an award from Turkey in 2023.

Kadıköy – Within the scope of the new bus planning made with the opening of Sabiha Gökçen Airport Metro; All bus services in Tuzla, Pendik, Kartal and Maltepe districts with a population of 2,5 million were re-evaluated with simulation. After the analyzes carried out, new line studies were implemented to provide the easiest integration from these districts to the metro.

With the commissioning of the new lines, the total number of flights in the region was increased by 3 percent. By saving 39 buses per day from the region, these vehicles were enabled to serve in other regions in need. The density of buses and cars in the traffic of the districts decreased. Free integration between the metro and buses was increased, and the metro culture became more widespread. With the work, 13 thousand km of road per day and 90 million liras of fuel per year were saved.

A first for IETT was also experienced at the meeting of UITP, which is the organization that directs public transportation in the world with its 100 members in more than 1.800 different countries, held in Barcelona, ​​the capital of Spain. Zeynep Pınar Mutlu, who is also the first female Deputy General Manager of IETT, was elected as the Vice Chairman of the Bus Committee for the years 2023-2025 of UITP.

EXCURSIONS ARE RE-PLANNED ACCORDING TO NEEDS

IETT, which provides public transportation services in every part of Istanbul, which is a city larger than 23 countries in Europe with its population, takes care to make the most accurate voyage plans and bus investments according to the changing and increasing needs of the city.

As the rail system investments, which are under construction in the city, are completed, special attention is paid to the re-planning of the bus services in those regions in a rational way.

IETT, which is the largest institution of public transportation in Turkey and Istanbul with 6.495 vehicles and 55 thousand daily flights, carried 1 billion 250 million passengers last year.
