The 66th session of the United Nations (UN) Committee on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space was held in Vienna yesterday. China's space station and manned space flight projects attracted great attention at the meeting.

In an interview with the China Media Group (CMG), Deputy Director of the UN Office of Space Affairs (UNOOSA), Niklas Hedman stated that they cooperate closely with China in many areas and look forward to gaining more cooperation in the future.

At the meeting, issues such as international cooperation in the field of space, long-term sustainability of space activities, the discovery of the Moon and other celestial bodies were discussed, and the projects of various countries on the peaceful use of space were exhibited.

At the meeting, the Chinese representative introduced the latest developments in space activities such as the China Space Station, the international Moon R&D station, the BeiDou satellite navigation system, the manned Moon exploration project.

Niklas Hedman reminded that the Shenzhou-16 manned spacecraft has been launched successfully and that China's manned space flight project has entered the implementation and development phase of the space station, emphasizing that China's achievements in space allow all countries to share the benefits of space development.

Expressing that the cooperation with the China Manned Space Engineering Office (CMESO) is very exciting and that it gives other countries the opportunity to use the China Space Station, Niklas Hedman said that they are choosing teams from all over the world in cooperation with China and that universities and research institutions around the world He noted that China has the opportunity to conduct research on the space station.

Niklas Hedman noted that China has always been a major space nation, and China's achievements in space are permanently on display at the UN City in Vienna, such as the full-scale replica of the "Yutu" Moon rover.
