The first Confucius Institute in Saudi Arabia was officially opened at Prince Sultan University in the capital, Riyadh. Yin Lijun, Charge d'affaires of the Chinese Embassy in Saudi Arabia, and Ahmed bin Saleh Al-Yamani, Rector of Prince Sultan University, attended the opening ceremony of the Confucius Institute, which was jointly established by Prince Sultan University and Shenzhen University of China.

In his speech at the opening ceremony, Ahmed bin Saleh Al-Yamani said that the establishment of Prince Sultan University Confucius Institute will provide valuable opportunities for university students and Saudi Arabian youth to learn Chinese and understand Chinese culture, and will play a positive role in accelerating cultural and economic communication and cooperation between the two countries.

Chinese Embassy Charge d'Affaires Yin Lijun stated that in recent years, under the leadership of the leaders of the two countries, the bilateral comprehensive strategic partnership relationship has continued to develop rapidly, and the cooperation in all fields has been continuously expanded.

Yin said, “Currently, Chinese classes have been opened in 4 universities and 8 secondary and primary schools in Saudi Arabia. Congratulations on the establishment of the Prince Sultan University Confucius Institute. "This development will further accelerate Chinese education in Saudi Arabia, enabling more young people to learn Chinese and understand Chinese culture, and create a bridge between the two countries to promote communication and cooperation in all fields," he said.
