Sichuan Airlines, one of China's airline companies, resumed Chengdu-Istanbul flights after three years. The flights in question were stopped due to the Kovid-19 outbreak. The first plane, which took off from Chengdu, China, landed at Istanbul Airport. Sichuan Airlines' Chengdu-Istanbul flights will be operated twice a week, on Mondays and Wednesdays, with Airbus A330-200 to A330-300 aircraft.

Wei Xiaodong, Consul General of the People's Republic of China in Istanbul, Cheng Xiaobo, General Manager of Sichuan Airlines, and Turgay Yaman, Director of Corporate Relations at IGA Istanbul Airport, welcomed the plane at Istanbul Airport. Speaking at the ceremony, İGA Corporate Relations Director Turgay Yaman said, “The launch of Chengdu-Istanbul flights, following the recent opening of the Consulate General of the Republic of Turkey, the fifth diplomatic representation of the Republic of Turkey in China, will further the close cooperation between the two countries.”

The Chengdu Consulate General, the fifth representative of Turkey in China, was opened in June. Mert Tokman became the first Chengdu Consul General.
