Under the auspices of the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources and the Presidency of Defense Industries to Meet the Strategic Needs of BOTAŞ with Domestic Solutions
In addition to its high exports in the defense industry and aviation, TEI, which produces added value for Turkey's strategic needs with the domestic and national engines it has developed, signed an important protocol with BOTAŞ, which has strategic importance in energy supply for Turkey and the countries in the region, under the leadership of the SSB.
The signing ceremony was attended by Fatih Dönmez, Minister of Energy and Natural Resources of the Republic of Turkey, and Prof. Dr. It was held at TEI Eskişehir campus with the participation of İsmail Demir.
With the cooperation agreement signed between TEI and BOTAŞ, an agreement was reached in 2022 for the maintenance and repair activities for the gas turbines in the BOTAŞ inventory, providing engineering support, localization, renewal and efficiency. Within the scope of this agreement, maintenance and repair activities of some gas turbines still in BOTAŞ inventory are carried out by TEI.
With the protocol signed at the ceremony, the scope of the cooperation agreement signed in 2022 was further expanded; All level maintenance of gas turbine engines within BOTAŞ is aimed to be performed by TEI. In addition, it is planned that TEI will be responsible for the development and/or supply of national natural gas compressor and turbine systems to meet the needs of BOTAŞ. Gas turbines in BOTAŞ inventory have a critical and strategic importance in terms of energy supply security of our country. In this context, studies will continue with the protocol signed between the relevant institutions of our country, SSB - BOTAŞ and TEI.
Carrying out maintenance and repair activities in the country is important for the critical infrastructure safety of our country, and it is aimed to make TEI a center for heavy turbine maintenance with these activities and to ensure the maintenance of strategically important gas turbine systems with domestic means.
