Vegetable seedlings obtained from seeds planted in Eskişehir Metropolitan Municipality Local Seed Center were delivered to earthquake-affected producers, mostly women, in Defne, Antakya and Samandağ districts of Hatay.

Eskişehir Metropolitan Municipality continues to deliver hundreds of thousands of local seeds produced in its production areas to all over Turkey, both as seeds and seedlings.

In this context, meaningful support was provided to the farmers operating in Hatay, where heavy destruction was experienced after the February 6 earthquakes in Kahramanmaraş. The work was started when the farmers had a shortage of seedlings and they reached the Eskişehir Yıldıztepe Cooperative. With the initiative of Yıldıztepe Cooperative, Eskişehir Metropolitan Municipality sent approximately 32 thousand vegetable seedlings to Defne, Antakya and Samandağ districts of Hatay.

The truck consisting of pink tomatoes, red tomatoes, peppers for tomato paste, clumpy tomatoes, sweet capsicum, village peppers, bell peppers, demre peppers and eggplant seedlings produced in the Local Seed Production Center of the Metropolitan Municipality Park and Gardens Department has been delivered to the Defne district of Hatay. reached.

The seedlings delivered to Defne Municipality officials here were distributed to 38 producers, 52 of whom were women, through the municipality and Defne Women's Cooperative. Stating that they were very happy because of the support and that they had great problems with seedlings, the earthquake-affected farmers said, “We would like to thank our Eskişehir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Yılmaz Büyükerşen, Eskişehir Yıldıztepe Cooperative officials and those who contributed. We were having trouble finding seedlings. We especially wanted it to be a local seed and our President Büyükerşen and the relevant people did not refuse this request. We were very happy. Our gardens and fields will not be empty. We will continue to sow and produce.” said.
