Larende Stores Founded in Konya

Konya Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Uğur İbrahim Altay participated in the groundbreaking program of Larende shops that will be moved to their new locations within the scope of the Great Larende Transformation carried out jointly by the Metropolitan Municipality and Meram Municipality. Stating that they are trying to bring new works to Konya every day together with the district municipalities, Mayor Altay said, “We have a dream for Konya. Within the scope of the Dar-ül Mülk Project, we are carrying out a major restoration and reconstruction work in our city at 20 different points.” Stating that they aim to complete the Larende shops, which will cost more than 200 million liras, by the end of this year, Mayor Altay said, “Our dream is to restore the fortification walls that will emerge after the expropriations in the Larende region within the scope of the Dar-ül Mülk Project. When all the projects are completed, our Konya will become a new tourism axis starting from the Mevlana Cultural Center to the new library and a place where our guests will go to the 13th century.”

Within the scope of the Great Larende Transformation carried out by Konya Metropolitan Municipality and Meram Municipality, the foundations of the shops to be built for the tradesmen of the region were laid by the Metropolitan Municipality.

Speaking at the opening of the program held in front of the City Hospital, Meram Mayor Mustafa Kavuş stated that the workplaces to be built will be the end of an era for Meram and Konya, and the beginning of a new one. Kavuş said, “Larende Street, which does not suit this city, which is one of the first settlements in the world, will become worthy of the vision of the Century of Turkey with the foundation we will lay today. Workplaces on Larende Street, which have completed their old and economic life, completely lost their shopping comfort, drowned in the traffic jam and do not suit the center of Konya at all, will gain a new vision and function here. It will also be the center of comfortable trade for both tradesmen and citizens. I would like to express my gratitude to the Mayor of the Metropolitan Municipality and his team for putting his hand under the responsibility for Konya.”

“OUR MERAM AND KARATAY HAVE ANOTHER GREAT INVESTMENT”

Karatay Mayor Hasan Kılca said, “There is a service to Konya in Konya Model Municipality and to our citizens from Konya. There is service with love. Today, again, our Meram and Karatay have gained another good investment. A big thank you to our mayor. If we want the continuation of these investments, these foundations, these openings, in short, these services, we must declare a will for the continuation of stability. Hopefully, none of us has any doubt that the stability will continue as of May 15th. That's why we continue to work day and night, I hope we will continue. I hope this project will be beneficial for our Karatay, Meram and Konya.”

“THE TRANSFORMATION IN LAREND, OUR CITY WILL PROVIDE GREAT PROFITS”

AK Party Konya Deputy Candidate Armağan Güleç Protectaz said, “I was extremely excited when our Metropolitan Mayor Uğur İbrahim Altay presented the project related to this place in the Dar-ül Mülk Project. I wish that this project, which was carried out in order to bring this region, which has such an important place in the history of Konya for a period of time, to the city again, will be beneficial. Konya has taken very good steps in terms of urban transformation in recent years. This is one of those steps. With the transformation of Larende, our city will make a big profit. I would like to thank our presidents for their hard work.”

“WE WISH OUR CLIENTS A BEAUTIFUL EARNINGS”

AK Party Konya Deputy Candidate Mehmet Baykan said, “Larende is an ancient place. It is very nice that such an ancient region, the entrance area of the Seljuk Palace, will be revived and that our tradesmen there are getting their new places without being victimized. Hopefully, the emergence of that historical building as soon as possible within the scope of the Dar-ül Mülk Project will be a gain for the city. We are also very happy that the castle walls will come to light. We wish good and fruitful earnings to our tradesmen," he said.

“WE HAVE A DREAM FOR KONYA”

Mayor of Konya Metropolitan Municipality Uğur İbrahim Altay stated that they are engaged in the politics of artifacts and that they are striving to bring new works to Konya every day together with the mayors of the district. Expressing that he has a dream for Konya, Mayor Altay continued: “Within the scope of Dar-ül Mülk Project, we are carrying out a major restoration and reconstruction work in our city at 20 different points. We are making projects at 20 different points in the region, which starts from the Mevlana Cultural Center and continues to the area where our Metropolitan Municipality is located. We made the beginning of this with the Mevlana Bazaar and the Gold Bazaar. Commerce is booming there. Alhamdulillah, one of the most beautiful centers of Turkey has emerged. However, the façade renovation works we have done especially on Alaaddin Street have become beautiful in the daytime and in the evening. It created a serious liveliness in that area. We continue the restoration of the old Tekel Building on Mevlana Street. We started the work on reintroducing the houses in Kılıçarslan Square to commercial life. We are planning to complete our works in the place that we turned into the Dar-ül Mülk Exhibition Area, which was started as the Payitaht Museum, located between the Stone Building and Meydan Houses, and put it into service by the end of May. Again, Taş Building is the representation and hosting venue of our Metropolitan Municipality. The Digital Museum and the Stone Building have become a very important center in the city with Culture and Arts. A restoration work befitting the ancient culture of our Konya has emerged.”

PLANNED TO BE COMPLETED BY THE END OF THE YEAR

Explaining that Larende shops cost more than 200 million liras, Mayor Altay said, “120 million liras of this is expropriation and 88 million is construction work. We paid 100 million lira. As of now, the expropriation process continues with our Meram Municipality. We are building new shops on Larende Street by agreeing with all of our 74 shopkeepers, who are owners or tenants, who continue their trade. The rough construction of blocks A and B of our 50-100-200 square meter total 9.445 square meter construction has been completed. Transactions continue in CD and E blocks as well. Hopefully, it will be completed by the end of this year and will serve our tradesmen," he said.

“WE ARE PLANNING TO BUILD A CITY THAT WE CAN ENJOY WHILE WATCHING ON THE STREETS”

Continuing his speech by stating that Larende, which is one of the important points of the city, is also the memory of the city, Mayor Altay said, “Larende is one of the first places people apply to meet their needs. I have many memories as a civil engineer. The beginning of our profession has always been there. At the request of our shopkeepers, we are building a new center where the people of Konya can find construction materials in bulk, close to the city. Our dream is not to move Konya and the place that does not serve the tradesmen. Our dream is to revive the fortification walls that will emerge after the expropriations in this region within the scope of the Dar-ül Mulk Project. Of course, this is a long process. The steps regarding first the archaeological excavations and then the survey projects and reconstructions will continue, but our dream is to build that Larende Gate between Sırçalı Madrasa and Owner Ata on Larende Street. Thus, an important project will be realized, where we can show our guests that Konya is Dar-ül Mülk and that Konya is the Seljuk capital. When all the projects are completed, our Konya will become a new tourism axis starting from the Mevlana Cultural Center to the new library and a place where our guests will go to the 13th century. As the people of Konya, we are planning to build a city that we will enjoy while walking around these streets.”

“WE ARE SIDE OF ALL OF OUR CLIENTS THAT PRODUCE, CREATING EMPLOYMENT AND STRIVE”

Emphasizing that one of the most important works for Konya is the Old Industry and Karatay Industrial transformations that they carry out together with the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change, Mayor Altay said, “We are building 2.690 shops and 134 workplaces. Hopefully, the 1st, 2nd and 3rd stages of our construction will be completed by the end of this year. Hopefully, when the 4th and final stage is completed in the spring of 2024, we will have moved our tradesmen in Karatay Industry and Old Industry to their new places and to Turkey's first Zero Waste industry. As the sons of Konya, we stand by all our tradesmen who produce, create employment and strive. We are closely following the process of having a workplace under the best conditions so that they can continue their business. I believe that the future of Konya will be much better. I would like to thank our mayors and all my friends who contributed. Together, we are preparing Konya for a beautiful future.”

After the speeches, President Altay and the members of the protocol laid the foundation of Larende shops with prayers.
