Museum Tours for Earthquake Victims Coming to the Capital

Ankara Metropolitan Municipality started to organize “One Day at the Museum” events specially for children who came to the Capital from the earthquake zone. The children, who visited the Anatolian Civilizations and Erimtan Museums, had a day full of activities.

Ankara Metropolitan Municipality continues to support the citizens who came to the Capital after the earthquakes on 6 February in all matters.

The Departments of Cultural and Natural Heritage and Cultural and Social Affairs promote Ankara by organizing special trips for children and young people coming from the earthquake zone.

CLAY TABLET AND CUMINARY TRAINING WITH EXPERT INSTRUCTORS

A trip to the Anatolian Civilizations and Erimtan Museums was organized within the scope of the “One Day at the Museum” program organized for earthquake-affected children in cooperation with the Cultural and Natural Heritage, Cultural and Social Affairs Department and Anatolian Art Historians Association (ASTAD).

The students who participated in the trip tried to get rid of the traumatic effect of the earthquake by doing drama and various activities after receiving cuneiform training on clay tablets in the company of expert trainers.

Bekir Ödemiş, Head of Cultural and Natural Heritage, stated that they have prepared various activities for children who came to Ankara after the great earthquakes to overcome the trauma they experienced, and said, “Within the scope of the studies, our children will be informed about the cultural and historical heritage of Ankara and also on clay tablets and cuneiform writing. We provide training. In the activity we do here, we ensure that they at least return to daily life and take part in social life. We consider this awareness as an important project that will protect the tradition, tradition, cultural and historical heritage and ensure the continuation of the sense of belonging.”

Alp Aykut Çıngır, Director of the Culture and Social Affairs Department Tourism Branch, who stated that as Ankara Metropolitan Municipality, will continue to support the citizens affected by the earthquake, said:

“We organize excursions for our children who came to the capital after being affected by the earthquake. We take our children to Anıtkabir first. We also continue to visit various museums. We organize trips that introduce the city culture closely in order to get them away from the existing troubles and to breathe. As Ankara Metropolitan Municipality, we will continue to stand by them.”

Stating that they organized a trip to the Anatolian Civilizations Museum with Ankara Metropolitan Municipality to reduce the trauma of children coming from the earthquake area, Taner Aşık, President of the Anatolian Art Historians Association, also used the following statements:

“We cooperated with Ankara Metropolitan Municipality and we are conducting a museum education program at the Anatolian Civilizations Museum with earthquake survivors. So we are not just visiting the museum, we are visiting the museum in a game. I think this project is very important for the rehabilitation of children coming from the earthquake area and I thank the Ankara Metropolitan Municipality.”
