Changes Regarding Narcotic Crimes in the 7th Judicial Package Announced

The Presidency of Fight Against Narcotic Crimes announced the changes in the 7th Judicial Package regarding narcotic crimes.

The Presidency of Combating Narcotic Crimes listed the contents of the package as follows:

“For the crime of manufacturing and trading synthetic drugs or stimulants, the lower limit of punishment will be increased from 10 to 15 years.

Extra obligations may be defined for those who have been given a decision to postpone the opening of a public lawsuit and to be on probation for the crime of possession or use of drugs or stimulants. Surprise tests can be applied during the postponement period. Compulsory treatment and rehabilitation will be applied to detainees and convicts in prison for this crime. Prisons suitable for this purpose can be built.

Applications regarding compulsory treatment decisions made in accordance with the Turkish Civil Code will be finalized within two days at the latest.

It will be possible to destroy the seized drugs or stimulants during the investigation phase.

The identities of those who report the proceeds of crime obtained from the drug or stimulant drug trade or the asset values ​​obtained from this crime will be kept confidential.
