Bursa Metropolitan Municipality gave the start of Ramadan activities with two special exhibitions. The Exhibition of Kaaba Covers and Hajj Memories from the Ottomans to the Present and the Exhibition of Palace Fragrances and Ottoman Jewelry from the Past to the Present took the people of Bursa on a journey through time.

Kaaba covers, pilgrimage memorabilia, palace scents and Ottoman jewelery from the private collection of collector Bekir Kantarcı met with Bursa residents in two-month exhibitions held at the Tayyare Cultural Center. The Exhibition of Kaaba Covers and Memories of Hajj from the Ottomans to the Present, and the Exhibition of Palace Fragrances and Ottoman Jewelry from the Past to the Present were opened to visitors with a ceremony attended by Bursa Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Alinur Aktaş. While the smell became an important symbol that allows people to express themselves by loading deep and different meanings in the Ottoman civilization, the visitors had the opportunity to experience musk, amber, rose, tulip and many more scents, which were a lifestyle for the Ottomans.

In addition to the outer covers of the Kaaba, which has been black for about 150 years, the belt belt writings, the covers that hang in the Kaaba every year and are changed every year before the Eid-al-Adha, the inner covers of the Kaaba, which are changed every 30 years, and the inner covers of the Ravza-i Mutahhara. and the pieces sent to Mecca in the last years when the Ottomans dominated the Hijaz lands, were also exhibited, and the Exhibition of Kaaba Covers and Hajj Memories from the Ottomans to the Present attracted great attention. Bursa Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Alinur Aktaş, who spoke at the opening of the exhibitions, which are organized especially for Ramadan and can be visited until April 15, said, “Art is the lifeblood of a society and we, as the Turkish nation, especially as Bursa, have a history of thousands of years. Therefore, in this sense, our ancestors left us a magnificent history, a magnificent culture and a magnificent civilization. Our duty is to protect them, watch over them and keep them alive. It should not be forgotten that culture and art form a bridge between the past and the future. When Bursa is mentioned, a spiritual city comes to mind. Ramadan is beautiful everywhere, but it is beautiful in Bursa. We wanted to add a different color to Ramadan with these two exhibitions.”
