SAVE BOTH DISTANCE AND TIME

Stating that the Eurasia Tunnel, which reduces the distance between the two continents to 5 kilometers, shortens the transportation distances on the south axis of Istanbul by approximately 10 kilometers, and reduces the journey between the Asian and European sides to 5 minutes, Transport Minister Karaismailoğlu continued as follows:

“As a result of the analysis based on the travel times of the Eurasia Tunnel and other Bosphorus crossing alternatives, the weekday time savings of users in the direction of Kozyatağı - Bakırköy in 2022 were 35 minutes per month in the morning and 45 minutes per month in the evening. In the direction of Bakırköy-Kozyatağı, it was 26 minutes in the morning and 42 minutes in the evening. In addition, the Eurasia Tunnel is monitored 400/7 with more than 24 cameras and an automatic event detection system, and emergency situations such as malfunctions and accidents are immediately intervened by expert teams. While the response time was 3 minutes on average when the business was first opened, it was reduced to less than 20 minutes thanks to the improvements made in a short period of 2 months, taking into account the 'people first' principle.”

GOAL TO BE CARBON NEUTRAL IN 2022 ACHIEVED

Emphasizing that the responsibility for environmental sustainability also came to the fore in the Eurasia Tunnel, Karaismailoğlu said, “Providing all of its electricity consumption in 2022 from recyclable sources, it received the International Green Energy Certificate (I-REC), thus helping to reduce the carbon footprint caused by electricity needs and increase energy efficiency. Eurasia Tunnel, which was entitled to receive the ISO 14064 Carbon Neutral Certificate by balancing the carbon footprint in its operating activities, reached its goal of becoming a carbon neutral project in 2022.
