IMM pedestrianizes General Şükrü Kanatlı Street, Gençler Street and Ebuziya Street and some streets that intersect with these streets in order to ease the transportation of pedestrians in Bakırköy. In line with the UKOME and UTK decision, the minibus and minibus stops on the street are being moved within the scope of the work that will start on March 1, 2023. A new circulation has also been determined for vehicle traffic.
Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) is starting a study to ensure the continuity of pedestrian circulation and easier access to public transportation vehicles, within the scope of "Bakırköy Cumhuriyet (Freedom) Square and Its Environment Arrangement Construction".
In this context; The part of General Şükrü Kanatlı Street between İncirli and Filiz Street, and a part of Belediye Hekimi Street, Letterçu Street, Filiz Street, Gençler Street, Laceacı Street, Hafız Çıkmazı street, Ebuziya Street will be pedestrianized indefinitely.
These streets and avenues will be closed to vehicle traffic between 10.00 am and 22.00 pm for pedestrian traffic safety. Buildings and workplaces located within the pedestrian zone; In order to meet the needs, the entrance and exit will be between 23.00 at night and 08.00 in the morning. Ambulance, fire brigade, police, municipal police and official vehicles, İSKİ; Vehicles of İGDAŞ, BEDAŞ and İBB European Side Road Maintenance and Repair Directorate will be able to enter and exit 24 hours a day.
The work for the project, which will be implemented with the decision of the UKOME (IMM Transportation Coordination Center) numbered 21 September 2022 and the UTK (IMM Transportation and Traffic Commission) decision dated 22.04.2021 and numbered UTK2021/16-10, will start on Wednesday, March 1, 2023.
Scope of work; Minibus and minibus stops located on General Şükrü Kanatlı Street will serve in their new places in line with the UKOME Decision and Circulation Project in the appendix.
A new traffic circulation has also been prepared so that the vehicles using the pedestrianized streets and streets will not experience problems.
