195 kilograms of methamphetamine impregnated with tea was seized by the Ministry of Commerce Customs Enforcement teams in two separate drug operations.

According to the statement made by the Ministry, a cargo shipment was closely examined during the controls carried out by the Istanbul Airport Customs Enforcement Smuggling and Intelligence Directorate teams within the scope of risk analysis and targeting studies. The said shipment, which came to the temporary storage area to be sent abroad and was declared as tea, was controlled by narcotic detector dogs upon the suspicion of the teams.

After the narcotic detector dogs concentrated on the cargo boxes and reacted, the teams started a detailed search and detected white powder substances in the tea in the boxes. Thereupon, the analysis was carried out with a drug detection kit on the suspicion that the tea may have been impregnated with drugs, and as a result of the analysis, it was revealed that the tea was impregnated with methamphetamine.

Expanding the operation as a result of the studies carried out on the suspects related to the incident, the teams searched the house of one of the suspects and found methamphetamine impregnated in the tea in the person's house.

During the two operations carried out by the teams in conjunction, a total of 195 kilograms of methamphetamine was seized, impregnated with tea.

In the incident where one of the six suspects taken into custody was arrested and sent to prison, the seized drugs were confiscated by the Customs Enforcement teams. The investigation into the incident continues before the Gaziosmanpaşa Chief Public Prosecutor's Office.
