The “Children's Workshop”, which was held within the scope of the preparations for the Second Century's Economics Congress to be held in Izmir on March 15-21, completed its first day at Limontepe Fairytale House with the cooperation of Izmir Metropolitan Municipality and UNICEF. At the end of the workshop, which will continue tomorrow, a 10-item action plan will be drawn from the ideas that emerged.

The preparatory meetings of the Second Century Economics Congress, which was postponed to March 6-2023 after the great earthquake disaster on February 15, 21, continue with workshops and forums. The "Children's Workshop", one of the preparatory works of the congress, which set out with the slogan "We are building the Turkey of the Future", is organized in cooperation with the Izmir Metropolitan Municipality and UNICEF (United Nations Children's Aid Fund). İzmir Metropolitan Municipality officials, UNICEF representatives and children attend the workshop at Limontepe Fairy Tale House. Children participating in the workshop focus on the concept of economy and the problems that affect them in cities through various activities. The pictures drawn by the children on the concept of economics during the workshop will be exhibited at the Second Century Economics Congress to be held on March 15-21.

A 10-point action plan will be issued.

During the two-day workshop, many topics such as the relationship of local governments with children and youth, the rights and participation of young people, human-centered design, intervention areas and analysis are discussed. A 10-item action plan will be drawn from the ideas that emerged during the workshop. The action plan will contribute to the outputs of the Second Century Economics Congress.

Economic Congress of the Second Century, March 15-21

The Second Century Economics Congress, a civil, transparent and fully participatory initiative, will be held between 15-21 March 2023. At the end of the congress, policy proposals that will shape the new century will be shared with all of Turkey. The program of the Second Century Economics Congress, which will last for seven days, includes main sessions, delegate meetings, forums and artistic activities.

Comprehensive negotiations on the long-term consequences of the devastation caused by the 6 February 2023 earthquake were included in the congress program. Sessions on many topics such as creating cities that are compatible with nature and resistant to disasters and disaster management were added to the program.
