Supporting artist Bülent Akbaş's 'Mersin Butterflies' photography exhibition, Mersin Metropolitan Municipality continues to bring citizens together with works of art. Mersin Metropolitan Municipality Deputy Secretary General Hasan Gökbel, İçel Art Club President Mecit Baskin, Metropolitan Municipality Department Heads and citizens attended the exhibition, which was opened in cooperation with the İçel Art Club.

The 'Mersin Butterflies', the product of Bülent Akbaş's 10 years of work, includes photographs of butterflies endemic to Mersin, as well as butterflies that are in Mersin on their migration route. The exhibition, which includes photographs of 112 butterfly species, will meet with art lovers at the İçel Art Club until January 21.

Gökbel: “Cultural activities of our municipality spread all over the city”

Mersin Metropolitan Municipality Deputy Secretary General Hasan Gökbel stated that they have signed joint activities with the İçel Art Club and said, “There are many beautiful works here. As the Metropolitan Municipality, I am pleased to contribute to this exhibition. We have so many events. Our events, which were held only at the Congress Center in the past; now it is started to be held in the halls of Yenişehir Municipality and in the Cultural Center of Mezitli Municipality. Schools have begun to enter.” said.

Özdülger: “As Büyükşehir, we are aware of our cultural and artistic values”

Stating that Mersin is a city famous for its cultural and artistic riches, Bengi İspir Özdülger, Coordinator of the Department of Culture and Social Affairs and Opera Artist, said, “We are happy to be holding the exhibition of our esteemed photographer Bülent Akbaş and to be together with him at this opening. Our aim is to integrate the value and care we give to such valuable artists as photographers, writers, writers, orchestra artists, theater artists and illustrators in Mersin with our people. As the Metropolitan Municipality, we are aware of our cultural and artistic values.” used his statements.

Icel Art Club President Mecit Baskin stated that the club hosts many promotions, interviews and exhibitions and said, “Today, we are watching the butterflies together from the collection of our esteemed elder and dear brother Bülent Akbaş.” he said.

Akbaş: “Of 410 butterfly species in our country, 198 live in our city”

Providing information about the content and story of the exhibition, Bülent Akbaş said, “410 species of butterflies have been identified in Turkey. 410 of 198 species live in Mersin. Mersin is a city rich in butterflies. I have been taking pictures of Mersin butterflies for 9-10 years.” He thanked Mersin Metropolitan Municipality for their contribution and said, “These works were created with the support of the Metropolitan Municipality.”
