2 Bridges Over South Canal in Bursa Renovated!

Bursa Metropolitan Municipality continues its works to renew existing bridges as well as new road-bridges and intersections. Within the scope of the works, 2 separate bridges on the Cenup Canal, which passes under the Ankara Road in the borders of Serme District of Kestel district, were completely renewed.

Continuing its efforts to produce radical solutions to the transportation problem in Bursa, the Metropolitan Municipality continues to renew the old bridges that are having difficulty meeting the needs. The Metropolitan Municipality, which renovated and opened two bridges over Deliçay Stream and Cenup Canal, which was built in Yıldırım's Samanlı District about 40 years ago and can no longer meet the traffic load in the region, has now renewed the Ankara Road crossing bridges of the Cenup Canal. Two separate bridges on the Cenup Canal, which passes under the Ankara Road in the borders of Serme District of Kestel district, have been completely renewed. Within the scope of the works, 3 bored piles and 2 beams were manufactured, 160 thousand cubic meters of excavation fill and 77 thousand cubic meters of concrete coating were made. After the completion of the bridges, the work on the Ankara road was completed with approximately 12 tons of asphalt pavement.

Hassle-free transportation

Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Alinur Aktaş said that they continue to work on improving existing roads and bridges, while bringing new roads, bridges and intersections to Bursa with the aim of trouble-free transportation. Expressing that the Ankara Road is the most important axis of the city, Mayor Aktaş said, “The renewal of the pavement bridges within the borders of our Kestel district was also important. The bridges over the Southern canal passing under the road route had completed their economic life. Within the scope of the study, we renewed both bridges. We may have disrupted the traffic flow a little bit during the works. However, with our renewed bridges, there will be no need for any work for many years.”
