Culture and Tourism Minister Mehmet Nuri Ersoy attended the WTM 2022 (World Travel Market) International Tourism Fair held in London, the capital of England, and visited the stands where Turkey was promoted.

Regarding the number of visitors from England to Turkey, Minister Ersoy said, “We set a very ambitious target for this year. We had a claim of 3,5 million. Hopefully, by the end of the year, by the end of 2022, we will have achieved this 3,5 million target.” said.

Ersoy, in a statement to the press at the fair, stated that before the Kovid-19 epidemic, the highest number of visitors from England to Turkey was reached in 2019 and that Turkey received 2,5 million visitors from the British market.

Ersoy said, “We set a very ambitious target for this year. We had a claim of 3,5 million. Hopefully, by the end of the year, by the end of 2022, we will have achieved this 3,5 million target. The data for the first 9 months was very, very good.” used his statements.

“We anticipate a very ambitious figure and growth next year again”

Stating that they continue their ambitious targets in the UK market for the next year, Ersoy said, “We anticipate a very ambitious figure and growth next year. I think we can move the 3,5 million figure to 4,5 million.” said.

Ersoy continued his words as follows:

“There is a very serious potential in the UK. Turkey addresses this potential with many products. Especially as of 2020, we get the results with the promotional films we make mainly in Istanbul. In the past, guests from England mainly came to products such as sea, sand and sun. Now, with our new promotional strategies and campaigns, we have also gone to product diversity.

We went not only to market diversity, but also to product diversity, and this year we are reaping the fruits of this. In particular, the British began to come to Istanbul very heavily. Likewise, with archaeological visits and package tours, shifts towards Central Anatolia and the East began. Now, we will expand this and ensure that British tourists are included in new products to many points of Turkey. The first data this year were very positive. We have reaped the first fruits of the strategy.”

Minister Ersoy also met with the President of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) Ersin Tatar within the scope of the fair.

President Tatar later visited the stands of the TRNC and Turkey and received information.

In addition to the fair, the Mayor of Antalya Metropolitan Municipality Muhittin Böcek also participated.
