Kocaeli City Theater 25 Years Old

Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality City Theater is experiencing its golden age this year. The City Theaters, which made their mark on the 24th Yapı Kredi Afife Awards and returned to the city with 3 awards, receive the reward of their years of experience. Celebrating its 25th anniversary this year, City Theaters is getting ready for a grand opening on 11 November, the day of its establishment. The city's theater will open the season with the play Cherry Orchard, which was awarded the “Best Play” out of 264 plays at the Afife Theater Awards on Friday and carried this meaningful award out of Istanbul for the first time in its history. Many artists who have made a name in their field are also expected to attend this special night.

CELEBRATION AND OPENING

A cocktail will be held at SDKM on Friday, November 25 at 11, due to the 19.00th anniversary celebration of the City Theatres. Right after, the best play of the year, Cherry Orchard, will be staged at the opening of the new season. Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality City Theaters General Art Director Aydın Sigalı spoke about the celebration and opening program. Sigalı said, “Kocaeli City Theaters, which started its journey on November 11, 1997, will open the season again on November 11 with a ceremony that introduces and reminds 25 years. We will have a cocktail and then we will stage our award-winning play Cherry Orchard.”

A COMEDY HEAVY SEASON

Giving information about the new season of the City Theatres, Sigalı said that they were well prepared. Sigalı said, “This year, a smiling repertoire awaits our audience. A blockbuster hit around the world and admired by the audience in every country, Out of the Way will be on our stage on November 24. In December, we will have a play called Under the Table, which will create a flood of laughter at the Chamber Theater. On March 27, World Theater Day, is To Live or To Die? Our play will meet with theater lovers. Our play "Ay Carmela" will be waiting for our audience in our Chamber Theatre. Of course, we will also have games from the past period. The frequently asked Mice and Men will be staged in the new season as well. We will have a busy and full year. Our hall has been renewed and the comfort zone of our audience has been increased. We missed you so much. As of November 11, we welcome all theater lovers to our theater.”
