The team, which inspects the vessels in the dam lake, controls the protected areas and ensures the protection of cultural and natural assets, fights against poaching, takes safety measures in water sports events and touristic boat tours. When needed, the team provides lifesaving service with an unmanned lifeboat vehicle and participates in search and rescue efforts.

Hasankeyf Gendarmerie Public Security Boat Commander Petty Officer Senior Sergeant Eray Canverdi stated that the area of responsibility of the Public Security Boat Command is a dam lake of 318 square kilometers. Explaining that they mainly do coastal navigation in this region and carry out preventive law enforcement patrols, Canverdi said:
“In case of detection of illegal acts, judicial and administrative proceedings are carried out. Inspection of motorized and non-motorized marine vehicles is carried out. Illegal and illegal fishing is followed, protected areas are controlled, and cultural and natural assets are protected. The boat team, which also controls the lands around the coast, which cannot be reached by land, over the dam lake, conducted 191 coastal navigation and preventive law enforcement patrols in the last year.
Pointing out that ensuring the safety of citizens against drowning is their primary goal, Canverdi added that they also contribute to the activities carried out to instill a love of nature and animals in children, and that they attach importance to informing citizens about acts contrary to the legislation.
