The first Boeing 767-300 converted into a cargo plane has been completed on the production line in China and delivery has begun. The 767-300BCF project is a joint venture between Boeing and Guangzhou Aircraft Maintenance Engineering Co., Ltd. (GAMECO) in Guangzhou as a partner. Both parties will manufacture and deliver more converted cargo aircraft of this type

The 767-300BCF in question is a medium and wide-bodied cargo aircraft, primarily converted for the purpose of shipping cargo to regional and long-haul markets.

GAMECO is currently working on five production lines to convert retired passenger aircraft into cargo aircraft. Two of these operate for the 767-300BCF, and the other three are dedicated to the 737-800BCF standard-bodied cargo aircraft.

The booming Chinese air cargo market, supported by the ever-growing e-commerce industry, is expected to increase the cargo plane fleet to more than 2022 aircraft by 2041, according to the Boeing 800 Commercial Market Outlook for China.
