Izmir Metropolitan Municipality will introduce the Izmir Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan, which it started working with the European Union, to the press on 22 September. The plan, which will be completed in 2 years, will enable the city to be safer, cleaner and more accessible, while allowing the institution to find international loans more easily and to improve its institutional capacity. Continuing its efforts to make the city sustainable, Izmir Metropolitan Municipality will introduce the Izmir Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan (SUMP Izmir), which it carries out with the European Union (EU), on the last day of the September 16-22 European Mobility Week. . The contract for the EU Support for the Izmir Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan Project was signed on June 21, 2022, between an international consortium of companies from the Netherlands, Germany, Belgium and Turkey, and the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, the General Directorate of EU and Foreign Relations, the EU Investments Department.

BISIMs are free on Car Free City Day

Izmir Metropolitan Municipality will celebrate the Car Free Day after the SUMP launch, on the last day of the European Mobility Week, which will be promoted with activities throughout the week. Gaziosmanpaşa Boulevard, which will be closed to traffic on the ninth Car-Free City Day held in İzmir, will be the address of activities that will last all day long, from children's yoga to zumba, from the slowest bike tournament to the thai-tay bike tournament. On the Car Free City Day, BISIM bicycles will serve free of charge.
