Bornova Contractors and Businessmen Association's name is Bornova and Bayraklı President Caner Tan, who thanked the members at the general assembly where it was renamed as the Contractors and Businessmen Association, said, “As businessmen who believe in the unity of power in the sector, we have expanded the scope of our association. With your approval, now and Bornova and Bayraklı As the Contractors and Businessmen Association, we will continue our services. With the effect of the pandemic, there has been a great increase in housing and rent prices. On the one hand, while the number of building permits increases, we observe a decrease in the number of constructions under construction. There is a need for 800 new housing units every year in our country. Due to the price increases, companies with low working capital are saying goodbye to the sector. We meet under the umbrella of the association and work to find solutions to the problems we experience before the municipalities and the ministry. The contribution of all friends in the sector to the activities and works of the association will help us to have a better sector. Construction costs have increased considerably in the last year and a half. The inadequacy in housing loans also pushed the sector into a bottleneck. We believe that the industry will revive rapidly in the coming years. We will continue to work for both employment and the country's economy," he said.

WE GET FULL SUPPORT FROM IZTO BOARD OF DIRECTORS IN SOLUTION OF PROBLEMS

İZTO Board Member and MÜFED President İsmail Kahraman, who spoke at the meeting and emphasized that they have been struggling for the sector to have an organized structure for nearly 20 years, said, “We continue our services as the Contractors' Federation with 16 associations operating in different districts of İzmir. We established the IMKON Contractors Confederation by joining together with the Ankara and Gaziantep federations, breaking new ground in Turkey. We established the Contractors' Assembly at TOBB. We participated in the İZTO election and took part in the change of management. We served our members by taking part in the Contractors' Committee, which was the 67th Professional Committee last term, representing our sector in the Izmir Chamber of Commerce. We have made important contributions to the solution of our members' problems with the struggle we have started for years and the spirit of unity and solidarity that has been caught. I bring you the greetings of our Chairman of the Board of Directors of Izmir Chamber of Commerce, Mr. Mahmut Özgener, who could not attend our general assembly today due to his illness. Now, together with Mr. Özgener, we will be elected from the same list as the 67th Professional Committee Contractors. Once again, we ask for support from our members in the elections of the Izmir Chamber of Commerce Professional Committee to be held on October 03, 2022. As MÜFED and İZTO, we send reports to the relevant ministries for the solutions of your problems. We also follow the processes for solution. 'I WISH GOOD LUCK TO THE NEW MANAGEMENT'

Mustafa İduğ, Mayor of Bornova, wishing success to the new Board of Directors in their duties. Bayraklı I was happy to meet you. because BayraklıActually, it is a part of Bornova. We set out to produce services in Izmir with a supra-political understanding. As someone who believes in sectoral unity, it is very important to support İzmir all together. İzmir needs a major transformation regarding urban renewal. In this regard, contractors also have important responsibilities. It is inevitable to carry out urban transformation and expansion works on an island basis in İzmir. I would like to underline the importance of inter-institutional cooperation. In this sense, I am honored to work together with business people.”

EMPOWERMENT OF PROFESSIONAL COLLABORATION

Ak Party İzmir Deputy Necip Nasır, who wished the general assembly to be beneficial for the sector, said, “I follow the problems of İzmir and the construction sector closely. I continue to work both in the field and in the parliament. I also received support from NGOs for these. Each county has its own problems. I forward the problems that come to me in a report to the necessary points. To date, I have contributed to the signing of 30 – 35 laws. I forward the problems from NGOs to Ankara for a solution. Very important decisions are taken in different commissions established. The issues are examined by deputies, bureaucrats and people with technical equipment; A solution is created by discussing it with the representatives of the government and the opposition. As I always say, being in Izmir should be prepared for an earthquake. There are 17 fault lines, 13 of which are active. The earthquake we experienced on October 30 took place on a fault line that we could not foresee and that does not belong to us. All of the demolished buildings were licensed and approved buildings. The structures up to 1999 also need to be reviewed and transformed in the next period. Everyone has a big responsibility and there is a situation that is the result of negligence. 80% of İzmir needs to be transformed. In a big earthquake, it is not possible to compensate for this," he said.
