Bringing the leading professionals of the fashion world together at the Fair Izmir, IF Wedding Fashion Izmir was opened. İzmir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Tunç Soyer said that IF Wedding Fashion İzmir, which is the locomotive of Turkey in the sector, will continue to grow.

IF Wedding Fashion İzmir-16, hosted by İzmir Metropolitan Municipality, organized by İZFAŞ in cooperation with Aegean Clothing Manufacturers Association (EGSD) between 19-15 November. Wedding Dress, Suit and Evening Dress Fair has started. Speaking at the opening, Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Tunç Soyer said, “We are happy to be revived with the energy, excitement and enthusiasm we have accumulated in this period we call the new normalization. IF Wedding Fashion Fair is the most important fair of the wedding dress, evening dress, groom's suit, children's wear and accessories industry. We are very honored to bring together the representatives and professionals of the bridal gown and evening dress industry, which is developing more and more each year, in Izmir this year as well. Our fair, which is the locomotive of Turkey in the sector and which we took a break in Izmir last year due to the pandemic, will make very important contributions to our production and exports this year. Thanks to our fair, I am very pleased to increase the power of our country in the wedding dresses sector every year and to contribute to our country together with İzmir. We are organizing the 12th International Wedding Dress Design Competition at our fair this year. Our competition allows young designers to shape the fashion world with new perspectives inspired by İzmir. I believe that with this competition, very original designs and designers will emerge that shape the new trends of the industry.”

At the opening of IF Wedding Fashion İzmir, hosted by Burcu Esmersoy, Turkish Exporters Assembly President İsmail Gülle, İzmir Chamber of Commerce Chairman Mahmut Özgener, Turkish Fashion and Ready-to-Wear Federation Chairman Hüseyin Öztürk, Aegean Clothing Industrialists Association Chairman Hayati Ertuğrul , İzmir Metropolitan Municipality Deputy Mayor Mustafa Özuslu, foreign buyers, fashion designers, industry professionals, designers, heads and representatives of fashion associations and federations, and bureaucrats. Stating that they are working to make İzmir one of the attraction points of universal art production, President Tunç Soyer said, “We work with the principle of circular culture based on harmony with nature, with each other, with our past and change itself. The main result of this cultural ecosystem we have created is to bring investors from different parts of our country and the world together in İzmir. İsmail Gülle, Chairman of the Turkish Exporters Assembly, said, “It is a fair that integrates with İzmir and suits İzmir very well. Everyone is watching with interest. We hope that it will contribute to our exports and the domestic market together with the meetings with foreign delegations.” Mahmut Özgener, Chairman of the Izmir Chamber of Commerce, said, “30 fairs are held in our city every year. IF Wedding has a special place due to its international strength. It is one of the most known and followed organizations. As İzmir, we meet 70 percent of the wedding dress production in Turkey and export to more than 40 countries. Hüseyin Öztürk, Chairman of the Turkish Fashion and Ready-to-Wear Federation, said, “This fair is one of the biggest examples of the work done by the municipalities with ready-made clothing manufacturers in İzmir. I would like to thank those who contributed,” he said. Hayati Ertuğrul, Chairman of the Aegean Clothing Manufacturers Association, said, “I am proud to be with you at this magnificent and enthusiastic opening in the 15th year of our fair.”

Wedding Dress Design Competition kazanfound the moments

The award ceremony of the 12th Wedding Dress Design Competition, which continues to support young and creative ideas in the fashion world and is the most important event of the fair, was held on the first day. The works of 15 designers who made it to the finals in the competition organized with the theme of “Awakening” this year were exhibited on the podium. Nurdan Ahsen Fıçıcı from İzmir University of Economics received the first prize from President Tunç Soyer. The second prize was given to Hasancan Meşelik from Giresun University by Hayati Ertuğrul, Chairman of the Aegean Clothing Manufacturers Association. Gözde Ağca, from Izmir University of Economics, received the third prize from Mahmut Özgener, Chairman of the Izmir Chamber of Commerce.

Visitors from all over the world

More than 100 visitors from over 2 countries were registered for the fair. At the fair, a Buyer Delegation program was organized with the support of the TR Ministry of Commerce and the Izmir Chamber of Commerce. Within the scope of the program, 32 percent of the visitors come from Europe, 30 percent from the Middle East, 20 percent from the Balkans and Caucasus Region, and 10 percent from America and other countries.

Along with the foreign participants, there are also local participants from Izmir and Istanbul, as well as from Adana, Ankara, Bursa, Gaziantep, Kocaeli, Konya and Sakarya, at IF Wedding Fashion Izmir. Companies from America, Iran, England, Canada, Qatar and Lebanon will exhibit their products and have the opportunity to hold business meetings with local companies. A total of 195 exhibitors will exhibit their products at the fair.
