İzmir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Tunç Soyer made observations at Manda Stream where the rehabilitation project carried out by the General Directorate of İZSU was completed. Stating that all the stream rehabilitation and cleaning works contributed to the cleaning of the Gulf, Soyer said, “The place where we could not come close to it due to odor and pollution in the past is now shining. " said.

The Manda Stream, which was cleaned and fed with sea water after the completion of the rehabilitation project implemented by the General Directorate of IZSU in the region where the Manda Stream, passing through the city, meets the Izmir Bay, has taken on a new face. İzmir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Tunç Soyer, who made examinations in the region where the studies were carried out, received information from Aysel Özkan, General Manager of İZSU and his team.

"People open up"

Sharing his thoughts on the project, Mayor Tunç Soyer said that with the work in Manda Stream, the problem of odor and pollution was solved and the quality of life in the region increased even more. Soyer said, “This place has been one of the sources of trouble that we will call İzmir's boil. Our friends work diligently to solve problems. It is proud to see the latest situation here. People open up. "The place where we could not get close to it because of smell and pollution in the past is now shining".

One more step to the swimmable Gulf

Noting that all the creek rehabilitation and cleaning works performed seem like a single work, but all of them are actually important steps for the cleaning of the Gulf, Soyer said, “Every work done contributes to the cleaning of the Gulf. I congratulate all our friends who worked hard. Health to all of them. They have done a very good work, ”he said.

Completed in two months

After two months of work carried out by the Izmir Metropolitan Municipality IZSU General Directorate on the Manda Stream, pollution flow to the Gulf was prevented and a new attraction center was brought to the city. In order to solve the problem of pollution and odor caused by the stagnant waters accumulating in the stream bed during the dry seasons, circulation pumps were installed from the point where Manda Stream meets the bay. Clean water taken from the sea is given to the stream through a 1-kilometer pipeline.

My applications for the continuation (*) were not responded and there was no local support for the project ...
It is gratifying that the issue was raised by a senior official twenty-eight years later.
