Izmir's Intelligent Notification System Was the First Project Suggested to the World

The Intelligent Notification System (AIS), prepared by the Izmir Metropolitan Municipality and the first in its field in Turkey, was the first project proposed worldwide this year within the scope of the DIAL (Digital Impact Association) study carried out by the United Nations Foundation.

Smart city projects of Izmir Metropolitan Municipality continue to attract attention in the world. The Intelligent Notification System (AIS), prepared by the Metropolitan Municipality and the first in its field in Turkey, was the first project proposed worldwide this year within the scope of the DIAL (Digital Impact Association) study carried out by the United Nations Foundation. Artificial intelligence supported Intelligent Notification System was introduced to the world as an example with the title of “Use of Digital Algorithms in Public Services”. This year, Serbia was also included in the report, which includes İzmir and Turkey.

First place as successful application

With the DIAL project, the “Software Algorithms and Public Services” report is being prepared to raise awareness about the use of software algorithms in public institutions. The Intelligent Notification System (AIS), prepared by the Izmir Metropolitan Municipality, ranked first as a successful application in this report. It aims to disseminate digital policy and practices

The DIAL project was created to explore digital transformation efforts in the world and to ensure that exemplary projects are spread around the world. The project aims to increase reliable and inclusive digital policies and practices. The UN Foundation carries out this project in cooperation with the Bill-Melinda Gates Foundation, the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency, UK Aid, and the German International Cooperation Agency.

What is the Intelligent Notification System (AIS)?

Thanks to the Izmir Metropolitan Municipality's first Intelligent Warning System in its field in Turkey, fires can be intervened at the initial stage. Thanks to the image processing technology that works with a total of 18 cameras in 72 towers, 62 percent of the forested areas are kept under control.

The Smart Warning System transmits the location and coordinates of the smoke image it receives to the firefighters and headmen.
AİS started to work actively in April 2022. The system was developed with the own resources of the Izmir Metropolitan Municipality. AİS stands out as an end-to-end solution-oriented project in terms of both hardware and software.
