Başak İnsel Aydın, Nutrition and Diet Specialist from Anadolu Health Center, gave information about the benefits of eggs. Stating that the nutritional content of the egg is high and the energy content is low, Nutrition and Diet Specialist Başak İnsel Aydın said, “There is approximately 215 mg of cholesterol in one egg. Egg yolk is rich in vitamins A and B, but also contains iron and phosphorus minerals. This contributes to the prolongation of the satiety period.

Underlining that the most important point in food consumption is the dose, Nutrition and Diet Specialist Başak İnsel Aydın said, “As with every food, if we miss the balance, our food can turn into poison rather than medicine; Therefore, the dose of food consumed is very important. It is a wrong perception to stay away from thinking that eggs raise cholesterol, because a healthy adult needs up to 1200 mg of cholesterol daily. Some of this need is met by food and some is produced in the body. In other words, consuming the right amount of eggs does not bring cholesterol to a dangerous point. The most important thing for health is a balanced and regular nutrition program that will ensure that this balance is maintained.

Stating that there is a high level of lecithin in eggs, that is, food additives, and that the most important feature of lecithin is to regulate cholesterol metabolism, Nutrition and Diet Specialist Başak İnsel Aydın said: It shows that it protects against vascular damage caused by fat stores and preserves the elasticity of blood vessels.

As a result, Başak İnsel Aydın reminded that eggs, which have a very high nutritional value and bioavailability, should not be avoided because of the concern that they will increase cholesterol, and said, “If the cholesterol level of the individual is not higher than it should be, if he maintains his ideal weight by following a balanced and regular diet, he does not have bad habits and is physically active. However, there is no need to worry about the cholesterol content of the egg. Therefore, he can safely consume 1 egg every day in a balanced and regular nutrition program.
