Artist Fatih Şimşek's thoughts on his exhibition titled “Far/Close”;

“First of all, I would like to state that I am very excited and happy that my works will meet the art audience from Istanbul. The reason why I prefer female forms with locked gas masks in my works; women are sometimes a symbol of freedom and sometimes a power above the world of men. The main idea of my works is deeper than it seems. Freedom also encompasses many sub-titles such as social unity, individualization, empathy, resistance to the system, etc.

“If there is hope, the torture will be prolonged,” says Nietzsche. Modern man, on the other hand, consumes his life by putting his own personal problems at the root of all his hope. In search of his own personal paradise, the individual faces the pure reality in the mirror as a result of his external inquiries in the hell he has created. Always wanting more, he created his own torturer. So how much of it does it knowingly and how much unknowingly? Is the final place where he will one day find the torturer he seeks is just a mirror? Or does it come easy to blame the evil on female archetypes by producing lilths, medusas, witches, as their ancestors did for ages? ' he stated.

It is possible to visit the exhibition titled “Far/Near” at FULART Art House until 06 December 2022…
