Cooperation Protocol was Signed within the Scope of the Sector on Campus Program

Minister of Industry and Technology Mehmet Fatih Kacır and President of the Council of Higher Education (YÖK) Prof. Dr. Erol Özvar signed the cooperation protocol within the scope of the Sector on Campus Program, which aims to bring together sector employees and university students.

With the signed protocol; Under the leadership of the Ministry of Industry and Technology and the Presidency of the Council of Higher Education, it is aimed to develop an education model intertwined with the business world in order to develop the competencies needed for developing technologies through applied studies, to include the business world within the university, and to contribute to the mutual development of companies and universities.

Minister Kacır, in his speech at the signing ceremony held at the Ministry of Industry and Technology, under the leadership of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan; Stating that while building the "Turkey Century", we are taking firm steps towards the goal of "full independence" in critical technologies, he said: "We are mobilizing our human resources, which is our greatest asset, to raise our country to the league of giants in the world by achieving our National Technology Move targets." he said.

Kacır explained that they support young people pursuing their dreams with Teknofest, the world's largest aviation, space and technology festival, and stated that they will continue to raise awareness and keep the love of technology alive with Teknofest, which will be held in Adana this year. Stating that young people were introduced to the world of science and technology with Deneyap Technology Workshops, Kacır stated that young people were also offered free software training in the new generation software schools opened in Istanbul and Kocaeli.

Reminding that they started the first implementation of the Sector on Campus Program in the spring semester of the 2022-2023 academic year through the distance education portal with 20 partner universities and 20 partner companies that are experts in their fields, Kacır said, “We brought 36 different course content to more than 500 students. "The success we achieved in the first period undoubtedly enabled the program to attract intense interest from both universities and companies." said.

Pointing out the university-industry cooperation, Minister Kacır said, “At this point, we have reached a huge university-industry cooperation where dozens of industry-leading companies and institutions such as Aselsan, Arçelik, Baykar, Cezeri, TUSAŞ, Turkcell, TÜBİTAK, Türksat benefit from tens of thousands of students from 84 universities.” We have come to the point of laying the foundations of the platform together. With the protocol we will sign with the Council of Higher Education (YÖK) today; “We will sign a vital collaboration with all universities in our 81 cities to expand and structure the Sector on Campus Program and rapidly increase the technological competencies of our young people.” he said.

YÖK President Prof. Dr. Erol Özvar stated that, thanks to the signed protocol, it will be possible to take steps that will further develop university-sector cooperation, and said, "With the signed protocol, elective courses will be opened in our universities in line with the demands of our business world and sectors, and the teaching of these courses will be carried out by those working in the relevant and related institutions of our Ministry or sector organizations."
