Phaselis Tunnel was opened with a ceremony attended by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan via video conference. Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Karaismailoğlu emphasized that the Phaselis Tunnel consists of a 305-meter-long 2×2 lane double tube, and said that the road route will be shortened by 2 kilometers and the travel time will be shortened by 10 minutes.

Phaselis Tunnel was put into service in Antalya, the heart of tourism. President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, who participated in the opening via video conference, said, “This tunnel on the Mediterranean coastal road will provide great convenience for transportation to the western districts of Antalya. Like this; Our districts such as Demre, Finike, Kumluca, Kemer, Kaş and Kalkan will be in contact with Antalya city center faster and safer. Likewise, products from this region, which is one of the most important vegetable growing centers of our country, will be able to reach our other cities easily. This tunnel will save our country 31 million liras per year with only time and fuel savings, and will reduce carbon emissions by 1,8 thousand tons.

Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Adil Karaismailoğlu stated that with the works carried out since 2002 under the leadership of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, a new era has been reached in the reconstruction of Antalya, as it has in the whole country, and said, “The pearl of the Mediterranean, Antalya, took the divided road length of 197 kilometers and took it from 677 kilometers. kilometers up. We built 21 tunnels with a total length of 473 thousand 20 meters and 17 bridges with a total length of 753 thousand 154 meters. We have made a great contribution to the Turkish economy with the contract of operating rights lease of Antalya Airport. To the public with the extra-budgetary financing method; We are earning 1 million Euros of investment and 765 billion 8 million Euros of rent without leaving a penny out of the state's coffers," he said.

Noting that the divided road network will be increased to 2053 thousand 38 kilometers and the highway network to 60 thousand 8 kilometers by 325, in accordance with the environmentalist scenario determined in the Transport and Logistics Master Plan, Karaismailoğlu said that they aim for Turkey to be a pioneer among the top 10 countries in the world in development.
