Ankara Metropolitan Municipality gave the start of the metro project after 12 years in the capital. For Dikimevi-Mamak Metro, a loan agreement of 4 million Euros was signed with the EBRD and AFD with a maturity of 12 years with a 250-year grace period. It is aimed to lay the foundation of the project, which is at the tender stage, in a short time.

Continuing its efforts to expand the capital's rail system network, the Metropolitan Municipality is giving the start of a metro project in Ankara after 12 years.

Within the scope of Dikimevi-Natoyolu Rail System Extension Line Project; A contract was signed with the Ankara Metropolitan Municipality, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and the French Development Agency (AFD) for a 4-year term financing support with a 12-year grace period.

At the meeting held at the Presidency, the loan agreement; Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mansur Yavaş signed a contract with EBRD Infrastructure Sector Turkey-Middle East and Africa Regional Director Sue Barrett and AFD French Republic Ankara Embassy Ambassador Undersecretary Mathilde Grammont.

In his speech at the signing ceremony, Mansur Yavaş said, “Today, we came together for the loan agreement of our city's Mamak extension Metro and we will sign the loan agreement with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and the French Development Agency. Good luck for our Ankara," he said.

EBRD Infrastructure Sector Turkey, Middle East and Africa Regional Director Sue Barrett made the following statements:

“We are very happy to finance the 7,5-kilometer additional line to Ankara's rail system and the connection of a crowded part of the city like Mamak to the city, with Ankara Metropolitan Municipality. Thanks to this project, serious carbon emissions will be reduced and it will be a very useful project for Ankara traffic, which will carry 700 thousand people a day. Our first project was about buses. In fact, two important projects of the green cities project in order to provide greener and cleaner transportation in two projects… We have accomplished a lot in a very short time. President, in particular, we thank you for your vision and your strategy to make this city better.”

AFD French Republic Embassy in Ankara Ambassador Undersecretary Mathilde Grammont also spoke at the signing ceremony:

“I know how much you care about air quality, which will help reduce the carbon emissions that are harmful to the climate, as well as the atmosphere that harms the health of local residents. Finally, this project is a project that will have a positive impact on reducing gender inequalities by facilitating the mobility of women with limited transportation opportunities with high quality accessible and safe public transportation. 250 MILLION EURO FINANCE SUPPORT

Dikimevi – Natoyolu Rail System Extension Line Project consists of 1 different stations with the names Abidinpaşa, Aşık Veysel, Tuzluçayır, General Zeki Doğan, Fahri Korutürk, Cengizhan, Akşemsettin and Natoyolu, covering the extension of the A8- AŞTİ-Dikimevi Ankaray Line to the east of Ankara. .

For the financing of the 7,461 km long project, a total of 4 million Euro financing support was obtained from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and the French Development Agency (AFD) with a maturity of 12 years, with a grace period of 250 years.
