One of Turkey's most important wetlands, Kızılırmak Delta Bird Sanctuary, where Samsun Metropolitan Municipality serves with bicycles, electric bicycles and battery powered vehicles, hosted 7 visitors in the first 17 months of this year.

Located within the borders of Samsun's 19 Mayıs, Bafra and Alaçam districts, the Kızılırmak Delta Bird Sanctuary, which covers an area of ​​56 thousand hectares, including the area where Kızılırmak empties into the sea, draws attention as one of Turkey's important biological richness areas.

In the delta, which is closed to vehicle traffic, Samsun Metropolitan Municipality serves visitors with bicycles, electric bicycles and battery powered vehicles. It is stated that the population of the species has increased with the closure of the region to vehicle traffic.

HOST 356 SEPARATE SPECIES

The Kızılırmak Delta Bird Sanctuary, which is on the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Tentative List, is home to 24 out of 15 endangered bird species and 420 of 356 bird species seen in the country with its rich population in terms of nutrients and fauna. 140 thousand water birds live in the delta, where 100 species of birds breed. Since more than 7 million migratory birds are on the route every year, storks that stay here also build their nests.

The delta, which is 56 thousand hectares in size, fascinates those who see it with its natural lakes, deciduous flooded forests that are completely covered with water in spring, reeds, and its unique view at sunrise and sunset.

The interest in the delta, which has an area such as a visitor center, image viewing center, exhibition hall and sales aisle where products specific to the region are promoted, is increasing every year. Domestic and foreign tourists also show great interest in the delta, which has a different beauty in summer and winter. Especially on weekends, the density doubles. In the first 2022 months of 7, 15 thousand 265 people, including 2 thousand 461 ticketed and 17 students, visited the bird paradise. Cycling trips take the lead among the visits.
