One of the cornerstones of the heavy commercial vehicle industry in Turkey since 1967, Mercedes-Benz Türk has achieved a historic success by unloading its 100th bus from the bands. The third generation Mercedes-Benz Travego was the 4 thousandth bus to get off the bands of Mercedes-Benz Türk Hoşdere Bus Factory, which is one of the most technological, environmental friendly and integrated bus production centers in Turkey and the world with its more than 100 thousand employees. Mercedes-Benz Türk Hoşdere Bus Factory, in its production adventure that started with the Mercedes-Benz 1995 0 model in 403, made a significant contribution to the Turkish economy with its exports to abroad as well as its success in the domestic market.

Speaking at the ceremony held at Mercedes-Benz Türk Hoşdere Bus Factory for the 100 thousandth bus to get off the band, Mercedes-Benz Türk Chief Executive Officer Süer Sülün said, “In 2008, exactly 41 years after the establishment of our company, we proudly took our 50.000th bus off the line. We produced our second 50.000 buses in 14 years. Today, we are proud to unload our 100.000th bus from the band. We manufacture 2 out of every 1 buses produced in Turkey, and export 10 out of every 8 buses we produce. Today, our bus exports to more than 70 countries have exceeded 62.000 and we have realized approximately 40.000 of these exports since 2008. As a company that contributes to the economy, employment and future of our country, we will continue to maintain the pioneering position of our brand with our mission as the flag carrier in the bus field, together with all our employees and stakeholders.”

Bülent Acicbe, Member of the Executive Board responsible for Mercedes-Benz Türk Bus Production, said, “We produce and develop as a factory connecting Turkey to the world with our more than 4.000 employees at our Hoşdere Bus Factory. We are proud of unloading our 100 thousandth bus from the band at our Hoşdere Bus Factory, which today hosts another very important milestone for us and our country. I would like to thank all of our colleagues, our stakeholders, customers and passengers who contributed to this unique moment.

We provide added value to our country by undertaking the R&D responsibility of Mercedes-Benz buses all over the world, not only with our production and exports, but also with our Istanbul R&D Center, which we house, after our efforts to make Turkey one of the world's bus production bases.”

Total exports exceeded 62 thousand units

Mercedes-Benz Türk has produced 1968 different bus models of Mercedes-Benz and Setra brands since 17 when it started production. The company, which made its first bus export in 1970, has since then exported more than 70 thousand buses to more than 62 countries in Europe, Asia, Africa and America. Currently, 6 Mercedes-Benz and Setra branded models are produced and exported in various versions at the Hoşdere Bus Factory.
