Karacabey is on America's Agenda

Karacabey Mayor Ali Özkan recently gave an interview to the New York Times, one of the leading international media organizations.

Mayor Özkan met with New York Times Turkey Bureau Chief Ben Hubbard and Reporter Şafak Timur Özkan, who came to the district for an article series that will focus on the story of Eskikaraağaç Stork Village, Uncle Adem and Yaren Stork.

Ben Hubbard, Turkey Bureau Chief of the world-famous American press organization New York Times, came to Karacabey with reporter Şafak Timur and Photojournalist Ivor Prickett and investigated the story of Uncle Adem and Yaren. The team also conducted interviews with other villagers, especially Adem Yılmaz, in the stork village where the story took place.

Hubbard and his team met with Karacabey Mayor Ali Özkan within the scope of the subject and discussed the projects and awareness activities on nature, especially Eskikaraağaç. Mayor Özkan stated that he was very happy with this visit and told them about various studies regarding the district.

In his speech, Özkan stated that Uncle Adem and Yaren Leylek have now become a brand value for the region and said, “Currently, hundreds of tourists come to Eskikaraağaç Village to see Uncle Adem and Yaren Leylek. This is a great advantage for both our district and Eskikaraağaç. "Uncle Adem and Yaren Stork became a story that pioneered rural development, drawing attention to nature and ecotourism," he said.
