İzmir Gulf Transit Project

Izmir Bay Crossing Project: AK Party Izmir Provincial Chairman Bülent Delican stated that some chambers affiliated to TMMOB opposed the project at the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) meeting of the "Izmir Bay Transition Project" designed by the Ministry of Transport, Maritime Affairs and Communications. In two cities, there is a structure that does not want the projects made to serve our fellow citizens to be realized ”.

In his written statement, Delican reacted by stating that there are rooms opposing the "Izmir Bay Crossing Project".

Delican stated that the “İzmir Bay Tube Crossing Project”, which was designed by the Ministry of Transport, Maritime Affairs and Communications, had recently held an EIA meeting, and that the project was opposed at this meeting.

Claiming that chambers affiliated to TMMOB have also "made excuses" for this project in İzmir, Delican made the following statements in his statement:

“Transportation is one of the most important problems of İzmir. We all know that the Izmir Metropolitan Municipality, which is primarily responsible for transportation, could not take adequate measures in this regard. Considering all these, our government made important transportation moves towards Izmir. In 13 years, projects worth billions of lira have been implemented. Finally, Konak Tunnel, which came into service, is an important example for this. Here, too, unfortunately, various obstacles and interventions were attempted by the public institutions. Currently, the tunnel is running smoothly and serving our countrymen. The cost of the Izmir Bay Crossing, one of the important projects of our government for Izmir, will reach 3 billion 520 million lira. This project, Balçova, Narlıdere, Karşıyaka and Çiğli District, it will completely solve the transportation problem of the surrounding districts. It will allow the city to breathe and connect the city from North to South. In the bridge project, which is approximately 4,5 kilometers long, an 880-meter artificial island, 800-meter immersed tube tunnel and 16-meter rail system will be built. A full 400-lane highway and 6-lane rail system route will be established. "

Defending that such an important project was not wanted and accepted at the EIA meeting, Delican said, “Those who stand up before the project starts, those who mislead the public and try to conduct a perception operation will be ashamed of what they did one day. Unfortunately, there is a structure that does not want the projects carried out to serve our citizens in the city to be realized ”.
