Mayor of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Ekrem İmamoğluAt the Earthquake Workshop, which started with the opening speech of , Istanbul's earthquake risk is discussed in all its aspects. Earthquake resistance of buildings and disaster training come to the fore as the common view of local and foreign experts.

The first speaker of the Dep Istanbul Earthquake Workshop Prof., organized by the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM), where national and international stakeholders come together. Dr. Marco Bohnhoff.

Bohnhoff, IMM President Ekrem İmamoğluAfter the opening speech of , he gave information about the magnitude of the possible earthquake in Istanbul with his presentation titled “The Seismotectonic Status of the North Anatolian Fault and Its Meaning for Earthquake Hazard”.

LOCKED Faults in MARMARA

Bohnhoff shared that the North Anatolian Fault Line has been locked faults in the Marmara Division since 1766, and that there could be an earthquake up to the size of 7,4 in the near future. Bonhoff continued his speech as follows:

Göre According to our data, an earthquake is expected up to 7,4 in Marmara and no earthquake is predicted above it. However, even an earthquake of magnitude 7,4 is a serious socio-economic danger for Istanbul and its surroundings. This risk needs to be managed. ”

24 In his speech, Bonhoff stated that the earthquake in the size of 5,8 in September is a stuck benefit in the Central Marmara.

Son The last earthquake has created the expectation that there will be a bigger earthquake. However, the seismic movements have now slowed down. Before the 4,7 and 5,8 earthquakes, seismic movements in the region had increased. Early warning systems will be activated if we can follow the activities here more closely. ”

TSUNAMI PROTECT MYSTERY

After Marco Bonhoff, Pierre Henry made his presentation. In his speech titled k The Contribution of Marine Earth Sciences to Istanbul Earthquake Analysis Henry, Henry stated that the earth sciences facilitated the earthquake studies in Istanbul and said:

“After the 1999 earthquake, we developed observatories in Istanbul and we have come a long way in studies. In our research, we saw that the Marmara Fault is locked at the bottom of the sea. "

Preserving the mystery of the tsunami that may be experienced after the Marmara Earthquake, Henry said that there are different scenarios regarding the start and end points of the fault. However, the tsunami risk in the Marmara is not too high voicing Henry, early warning systems to be established that the tsunami risk is possible to predict in advance, he said.

KADIOĞLU: İZ WE CAN REDUCE DAMAGE, NOT DANGER ”

One of the speakers of the workshop was Prof.Dr. Dr. In his speech titled “Emergency Disaster Situation Mik, Mikdat Kadıoğlu pointed out that in case of a major disaster, the police, ambulance and fire brigade employees that we expect to help will also be in disaster.

Kadıoğlu said, “We need to switch to disaster management on the basis of society. Skills training needs to be provided outside awareness training. In the event of a disaster, a community-based situation should be adopted, because everyone will be in disaster. The first 72 watch in disaster is important. Here we will do the first aid ourselves..

Stating that disasters should be prepared according to the worst scenario, Kadıoğlu said, “Disaster management is about reducing risks, not search and rescue. It is to reduce the probability of 34 thousand damaged buildings to 34. If the risk is reduced, then the intervention will be successful. Crisis management doesn't make much sense without risk management. "We cannot eliminate the earthquake hazard, but we can reduce the damages."

Gathering areas, schools, indicating that the mosque Kadıoğlu, emphasized the importance of making these buildings intact.

The first day of the workshop, which includes representatives from different professional groups and sectors, continues with parallel sessions. On the second day of the workshop, there will be roundtable discussions where problems and solutions will be discussed.
