The construction tender of Gebze Metro, which was pre-qualified by Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality, was to be held in May. Giant firms and consortiums, which gained prequalification, asked for additional time for detailed examination of the project. Upon the request of Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality, the tender was postponed to 3 May 18. 2018 will be invited to the tender to be held in May.
The Gebze-Darica metro project, which is expected to be completed by the end of the 2018 year, will be launched by the end of the 2018 year or the latest in January of the 2019. The line, which will start to serve with daily carrying capacity of 4 bin 800, will also be the first metro in Kocaeli.
Gebze- Darica subway will serve as double track. The first stop of the line will be the stop of Darıca Sahili Station, and the stops starting from this station will end with Mollafenari Village Station. The total length will be 15,6 Station which is even 12 km. The Gebze-Darica metro line will be connected with Marmaray and the project will be carried out under the auspices of the Ministry of Transport.
