Express Courier Companies' 5-Month Revenue Reached 60 Billion Dollars

Data from the State Postal Administration noted that during the first five months of the year, Chinese courier service providers reported a steady increase in the volume of express delivery. In January-May, the country's courier companies handled a total of 3,3 billion parcels, an increase of 40,95 percent compared to the same period of the previous year. The industry's operating income also increased by 2 percent compared to the same period last year to 400,55 billion yuan (approximately $60 billion).

Shanghai ranked first among all Chinese cities in terms of express delivery revenue in the first five months of the year. It was followed by Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Jinhua and Hangzhou in this area.

Data from the Postal Administration also show that in the January-May period, China's postal revenue reached 5,9 billion yuan, up 531,78 percent from a year ago. In May alone, the sector's revenues increased by 4,4 percent.
