Abdulkadir Uraloğlu, Minister of Transport and Infrastructure, visited the TRNC with Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz, and the works of two projects that are still under construction were examined on site. Noting that the New Ercan Airport and Nicosia Northern Ring Road are very big and important for Cyprus, Uraloğlu said, “We made great efforts to bring these two projects to Cyprus. Within the scope of the Ercan Airport and Highways Master Project, which is planned to be opened in July, the Northern Ring Road projects will be shown as an example in the world. Ercan Airport, built on a total area of 7 million 800 thousand square meters, has a new runway of 2 thousand 800 meters, which is built to the south of the existing runway, which is 3 thousand 100 meters long, and has a length suitable for the use of all models of passenger aircraft.
EXISTING AIRPORT WILL ENLARGE 6 TIMES
While the current Ercan Airport is 20 thousand square meters, the new terminal of Ercan Airport will increase to 6 times its size. The Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, Ercan Airport's new terminal, which is an important investment in the aviation sector, will be an exemplary project in the field of aviation with its flight safety, infrastructure and technical features.
WITH MANY TECHNICAL FEATURES
At the new Ercan Airport, there will be a total of 9 aircraft parking areas, 21 of which are bellows and 30 of which are in the open. The new terminal building will serve its passengers with 60 check-in and 44 passport control points, 26 x-ray devices and a 4-kilometer-long baggage system with a baggage capacity of 5 per hour. It will be possible to reach the terminal from the parking lot by elevator and escalator systems at the airport, which will have a parking lot with a capacity of 40 vehicles, along with an indoor car park of 500 square meters and a capacity of 500 vehicles.
NORTH RINGWAY WILL LIGHTEN THE TRAFFIC LOAD
The Nicosia Northern Ring Road, the works of which started in 2013, will be one of the most important projects of Cyprus that will significantly alleviate the traffic load in the region and increase safety and driving comfort.
